Livin' On A Prayer
Once upon a time not so long ago. This is seriously how the song starts people. I'm not just making this stuff up. Really. Tommy used to work on the docks Ok, he worked on the docks. So what? I think Bon Jovi is trying to make the point that he has a WAY better job than Tommy. What a jerk. Union's been on strike. He's down on his luck... it's tough, so tough. Here Bon Jovi is making the point that he, unlike Tommy, gets laid every night, because his job is so superior to Tommy's. I think Union is Tommy's girlfriend. Gina works the diner all day So what? I guess Bon Jovi thinks he has a better job than Gina too. What an ass Bon Jovi is. He really makes me sick. So what if he has a good job! This song is starting to make me mad. Working for her man, she brings home her pay. For love - for love. Working for her man? I thought she worked the diner? I think Bon Jovi is making the point that Gina is a whore. 'For love' means sex with Bon Jovi. Chorus She says: We've got to hold on to what we've got 'cause it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not. We've got eachother and that's a lot. For love - we'll give it a shot I guess this is pillow talk. Gina tells Bon Jovi that she really loves the fact that he is way rich. By "it doesn't make a difference whether we MAKE IT or not" Gina means "we can have sex, or not. No biggie". Sex doesn't matter to Gina, but as you can tell by the last line "For love - we'll give it a shot", Gina is a slutty hoe (Not the garden variety hoe either, if you know what I mean). We're half way there. Livin' on a prayer. Take my hand and we'll make it I swear. Livin' on a prayer. The key line in this corus is "Take my hand and we'll make it I swear." This is Bon Jovi telling Gina he's about to reach orgasm so she better hurry up and get there too. Tommy got his six string in hock. Uhhh, people I am not making these lines up! This is seriously what Bon Jovi wrote as lyrics to his song. I think Bon Jovi is still trying to convince us that Tommy is poor. Now he's holding in what he used to make it talk - so tough, it's tough. Tommy is constipated. What a jerk Bon Jovi can be. We do not need to know about Tommy's bowel movements. At leasts I didn't. Maybe you like that sort of thing. Sicko. Gina dreams of running away Is she afraid of Tommy's constipation? I think so. I sure am. Damn you Bon Jovi! When she cries at night Tommy whispers: Baby it's ok, someday... (leads back into chorus). "Baby it's ok, someday..."? How reassuring. Tommy really has a way with words. What a jerk. That's it. That's the whole song. I hope we helped you out a bit. If not, I don't care. |
