Biography: Peter Providence is a self-taught artist with a passion for blending nature with culture in realistic style.

He works in oils, which enables him to capture the effects of colour in light and shade. He challenges his viewers to look ever closer for the ultimate. He paints with a clarity that enforces the values of a disappearing culture in a developing country.

He draws inspiration for his work by constantly observing nature, the different shades of colour in a single tree , the shadow cast by each ripple as light shines across water, the reflections of figures (a stone, a piece of stick, a person)on the wet shore-line.

 

Born in 1968 he started drawing from a very early age and started painting when he was 13 years old. He always strives to be the best he can be. His motto is “Practice practice and more practice”

 

He has exhibited locally and regionally. Many of his paintings hang in the banks and other business houses, and in the private collection of individuals, both locally and in the USA.
