HARRY RICKETTS was brought up in Hong Kong as well as in Malaysia and England. He taught in the University of Hong Kong in the 1970's and his early book, People Like Us, published in Hong Kong by Eurasia Publishing in 1977, was reviewed in The Asia Magazine.
Since 1981 Harry Ricketts has lived in New Zealand, where he teaches literature in English and creative non-fiction at Victoria University of Wellington.
His collection of poetry, Your Secret Life, published in October 2005 by HeadworX (New Zealand), includes Hong Kong references among the New Zealand poems. It is his first full-length collection since his selected writings, Nothing to Declare, was published in 1998.
