PCNC Swap Meet
&
Tech Session 2001
It was another beautiful day for the PCNC Swap Meet 2001.  Hosted again by Pam and Roger Sharp, soon their yard was filled will all things DeTomaso.  19 Panteras and 2 Mangustas were present to enjoy the event.  Numerous brand-X cars were used to haul parts to the meet, from the typical pickup, to two newer Jaguars, with their trunks overflowing with items for sale.
Tony Harvey has this Street Dominator manifold for sale.I think he was asking $150 but It didn't sell at the event, so make him an offer.
Throughout the day members came and went interested in either parts, or some work or both.  The Max Haul in a Pantera goes to Terry Aultman.  Im not sure how, but he managed to carry twice as much stuff as anyone else !
The long distance award would have gone to new Pantera owner John Partlow from Fresno, but Asa Jay and Shelley Laughton drove in from Washington.  John recently purchased a Pantera.  He only gave it a detailed inspection after bringing it home.  Unfortunately, once he did he found rust on part of the frame.  Well he describes it as a lack of frame, in the area above the gas tank.  It seems his early car 20XX, didnt wear a splash shield, and water spun up from the left tire, to regularly wet the area.  His plan is to strip the whole car to bare metal and see what the car is really like.  Never daunted, he arrived in a Ford to start buying parts.  He needed the AC compressor bracket, and JUST missed getting it by seconds !    John is on the right, in the image to the right..
Since swap meet sellers tended to arrive all day, each time a new arrival appeared several potential buyers helped unload.  It was definitely a sellers market !
When I began interrogating Joel Gust (on left) as to what parts he brought, (remember you must bring at least one part !) he quickly bought a steering wheel hub and adapter from Terry, and held it up.  Joel that does not count !
As a seller arrived, they were also helped to unload.  Typically a group would form to inspect and make offers.  At this event the common items were radiators, radiators, and more radiators, fans, (stock) fans, and more fans.  Definitely a theme !  People could not give away these items.
One set of 10 campy wheels changed hands at some point, and I noticed the wheels already on the car when I walked around in the afternoon.
Parts were changing so fast, most of the time I didnt get to even take a photo of the spread, before a pile was picked clean.
A set of upper rear A-arms with good ball joints went CHEAP. Buyers had to be fast, as Larry $tock would make a sweep by, and pick up boxes of stuff for pennies on the dollar.
Next time we need many more sellers !
