The Rain

It didnt rain that day. The clouds were dark and blocked the hot Las Vegas sun. The air was sticky and smelled of salty rain. The winds were calm and only blowing the occasional strand of hair.

But it didnt rain that day.

That was the last time I would see that school, those people. It was the last day before my life had to change.

The sadness was felt. Their attitudes were somber. No one wanted it to end this way. The rain wouldnt come, but the tears did.

It wouldve been easier if it had rained. It wouldve made the pain more sympathetic. The rain couldve washed the tears away. The rain could have been the closure that we all needed.

But it wasnt because it didnt rain that day.
