"This Really Happened" Chapter 3 Dan pulled up in front of Staceys house Saturday night. He had no idea what she had in store. He could only hope that it wasnt too dramatic. He stepped out of his Jeep and into the rain that had just started to fall. Great. Just great, he thought. Upon entering the house, he found the party had already started. He searched for Jacob or Stacey. Neither one was around. Dan felt the chill in the air as if something wasnt right. He knew he had to find Stacey. She was with Jacob; he could feel it. Meredith! he screamed over the music to her. Have you seen Stacey? Yeah, she screamed back. She went downstairs about twenty minutes ago with some guy. He was acting really weird. Downstairs? Dan asked. To the basement? Yup, Meredith said turning back to the people surrounding her. Dan dashed to the stairwell. He had to get to Stacey before Jacob did. He had to get to her before something happened. As he ran down the stairs he hit every groan and every squeak. He could hear the rain pounding against the glass windows. Then he heard Jacobs whispering voice. Stacey, you seem really cool. Like the kind of girl I could tell anything to, Jacob footsteps paced back and forth in a steady rhythm. Dan stopped. He could no longer see in front of him. None of the lights worked. It was pitch black. He waited for Staceys response. Like what? There was a certain element in her voice that Dan couldnt place. Im going to kill you, Jacob whispered in a sinister voice. As if on command the lightning cracked and Dan could see Stacey perfectly. She was sitting on a bench in total fear. Her face was deathly white and her knuckles were clenched fast. Her eyes were huge and alarmed. Dan finished off the stairs two, even three, at a time. He jumped on Jacob from behind. He punched him in the face, side and chin a few times. Jacob was stronger though. He threw Dan off his back and lunged toward Stacey. Stacey jumped up and ran behind Dan. Jacob crashed through a window and landed outside in the rain. Dan and Stacey ran up the stairs and into the party. What was with that? Stacey screamed at Dan shaking. He was going to kill you, Dan screamed back. Why? Stacey asked as they ran toward Dans car. You let him in, Dan said trying to get through the crowded living room. What am I supposed to do about it? Stacey shrieked. Get him out, Dan yelled back. They stopped at the front door. Their hearts were pounding. They could have sworn they had just seen the doorknob turn. Not daring to open it, they stood and watched. The door burst open and Jacob appeared in the doorframe soaked and angry. Jacobs eyes were full of rage. He glared at Stacey. The little witch. She used me. She never wanted to be my friend. She wanted to be popular, Jacob realized. Well now shes going to have to die. What do you want? Stacey screamed at Jacob. What? Oh, you know what I want, Jacob laughed. You know all too well what I want. Dan watched as Jacob moved closer to Stacey. Every step he took was one step closer to Staceys death. Dan was of no help to her. There was nothing left for him to do. Dan! Help me! Please! Stacey cried out in terror. She started to sob. Closer and closer Jacob moved toward her. His face glowed evilly. His grin grew broader. He knew he had all the power.
