Road To Nowhere Chapter 3: The Princess's House Courtney sat down in her usual spot in her sixth hour English class. She couldnt wait for class to begin so she could take her mind off of Dan. Just before the bell rang, the door swung open heavily. Courtney didnt know why, but she looked to see who it was. To her surprise and disappointment, it was Dan. Dan noticed Courtney the same time she noticed him. He laughed to himself. She cant hide from me now, he thought to himself. He handed his schedule to the teacher and she told him to pick a seat. He chose the one right next to Courtney. She turned her face away from him as he sat down. I didnt know cheerleaders took honors English, Dan said with a smirk. I didnt know jackasses had brains, Courtney shot back. Whoa, Courtney. Just chill. I want to be your friend, Dan offered his words to her. Sorry Dan, but I dont need any more friends. Thank you very much, Courtney opened her notebook and started writing. Dan gave up. He didnt want to be on her hit list. He wanted to be with her, so he let her be. Class ended and Courtney rushed out of the room. Dan tried to keep up with her, but she was too fast and she knew her way around better. Courtney pulled her French book from her locker and checked her lipstick in the mirror before she shut the door. When she shut it she was startled to find someone behind it waiting for her. God Matt. You almost gave me a heart attack, she said. Sorry Court. Are you taking the BMW home or are you gonna chill with us tonight? Matt asked following Courtney to the parking lot. Is Dan going to be there? she asked. Actually yeah. I invited him to hang with us. You know, until he makes some new friends, Matt said. Courtney opened the door to her light blue BMW Z3 and climbed in. Sorry Matt. Im gonna have to take a rain check, she said as she slammed the door. Matt tapped on the window. Okay Court. See ya later. Courtney sped away from her problems and her friends. She drove the ten miles to her mansion. She parked in the massive garage on her fathers estate. She walked in the front door and set her books down. Anyone home? she asked the empty house already knowing the answer. Silence answered her echoing question. She sighed and climbed the stairs to her room. * * * * Ah come on man, Matt pulled Dan with him as he walked up to Courtneys front door. Dude, she doesnt like me, Dan said resisting Matts grip. Thats about to change, Matt smiled devilishly. Does she have a butler? Dan said as the doorbell rung throughout the house. Nah, man. Court and them arent into having people do stuff for them. Courts an independent girl, thats why she talks so much bullshit, Matt said as he rang the bell again. Come on Court. I know youre there. Courtney opened the door wearing short shorts and a green halter. What? she demanded of Matt. And why did you bring your new best friend with you? God Court. Put some clothes on, Dans wetting himself, Matt said as he pushed past her and walked into the house. Youre such an ass, Courtney replied as she shut the door. Thank you. Coming from you, thats a compliment, Matt said as he made his way to the kitchen leaving Dan and Courtney alone. Dont get used to this, Courtney said to Dan as she followed Matt. Hey Dan, you want a sandwich? Matt called to him. Nah dude. Im cool, Dan said following Courtney into the kitchen. If hes gonna make it, you might as well, Courtney said perching on the countertop. Matt would starve if it wasnt for his mom and me. He can't even make microwave popcorn by himself. Dan laughed. Ah shit Court, what the hell is this red thing? Matt said holding up a tomato. Its a tomato dumbass. Why do you want to put vegetables on your sandwich? Courtney shot Matt a look saying you shouldnt have brought him here. A tomato is a fruit, Matt said. Now whos the dumbass? Matt put together three sandwiches and handed them out. Once they had finished, Courtney made Matt take Dan home. She couldnt stand being in the same room as him. It wasnt him though; it was her past that made her uncomfortable. Little did she know that Dan was hiding something from his past too. * * * *
