"Promises To Keep" Chapter 3: There Is A Way

Get up! Melissa screamed at Allisons sleeping body.

Allison bolted upright in the bed. What? Is there a fire? Whats going on? Im awake! Im awake! she said frantically.

No, there isnt a fire, Melissa said calmly. Just get up, okay?

Why? Allison turned over and faced her digital clock. Ugh. Mel, its 6:44 A.M.!

So? I told you that we were going to go O-Town hunting first thing in the morning. How much more first thing in the morning can you get? Melissa tapped her foot irritably.

Okay, fine. Im getting up. See, Im putting my feet on the floor now, Allison rubbed her eyes. Why did she ever agree to go along with Melissas madness? Oh, right. Ashley Angel.

Ill be on the computer, Melissa skipped out of the room.

Allison sat on the bed debating whether or not to get up and help her friend. Eventually, the smell of coffee got her up and to the computer. Melissa smiled warmly at her. Allison could do nothing but smile back.

Morning, Allison said as she sat down.

Morning beautiful! Its such a gorgeous day! What a fine, fine day to go O-Town hunting! Melissa sang.

Please dont make me dump this cup of coffee on your head, Allison said.

Sorry, Melissa chirped. Oh my God! I found it! Heres O-Towns tour schedule!

Let me see! Allison shoved Melissa out of the way. No one was going to get between her and Ashley Angel.

Oh wow! They will be in Denver tonight! Melissa read over Allisons shoulder. Do you think we could get there?

Tonight? Allison asked unsure. Mel, were in Boston, and theyre in Denver! I dont think so.

Well come on, lets at least try to catch them! Melissa was already in her closet packing clothes for the trip.

Allison gave up. Okay, let me pack.

Allison and Melissa stood in front of gate C4 waiting to board their plane. The plane would have an hour layover in St. Louis before continuing on to Denver. Melissa couldnt sit still while Allison was about to throw things at her.

The girls were total opposites. Melissa had shoulder length brown hair with mesmerizing mocha eyes. Her smile was contagious and her energy never ended. She was in love with boy bands. Her all time favorite song was Riddle by NSYNC. Allison, on the other hand, had short blonde hair with copper highlights. Her eyes were a shade of forest green. She could be perky and hyper, but mostly liked to be the calm levelheaded leader. She had an obsession with rock music, and her favorite song was In The End by Linkin Park.

First boarding call for flight 419 to St. Louis, an announcer said over the loudspeaker.

Thats us! Melissa ran to the gate and handed over her boarding pass. Allison followed not too far behind.

The two girls found their seats and settled in for the trip. Allison turned on her Discman while Melissa made friends around her. It would be quite the trip.
