Théoden
Northman, king of Rohan. Born in 2948 of the Third Age, Théoden, son of Thengel, became the seventeenth king of Rohan in 2980. In the beginning he was a good and strong king, but near the end of his reign he fell under the influence of Grima Wormtongue, who secretly was a servant of the evil Wizard Saruman. However, in 3019, Gandalf healed him from the evil spells of Saruman. Théoden, mounted on his steed, Snowmane, and boldly led the Horsemen of Rohan into the Battles of Homburg and Pelennor Fields. Upon Pelennor, after overthrowing the Haradrim, he won a warrior�s death by daring to stand against the Witch-king.
