Through extensive Dyno testing, Protomotive has developed software for your 96-98 993 to make it the best it can be.  Porsche(tm), claims 286hp out of their Vario-Ram(tm) system.  Well, fresh out of a 98C4S, this engine baselined at 258hp, in completely stock trim.  It was all we could do with fuel and timing revision's to even get 286hp out of this engine.  Now, don't feel bad,  They are using DIN hp, we are using STP, slightly different correction factors, and dyno's tend to read slightly different as well.  But what needs to be appreciated is the fact that we saw a 28hp increase from the baseline engine!  This would translate into 314hp based on Porsche's(tm) claims.  And even better, a 10% or so increase in Torque all the way from 3200 to redline!  This will provide unparalleled throttle response and drivability throughout the range, and all without any engine modifications...  We tested without mufflers and only found a 3-4hp gain, but definitely not worth the noise, so beware of all the advertisements claiming massive power increases with mufflers only.
We will be testing for further gains soon, so keep watching.
