The Pokhvisnevs - Russian noble family descending from Panfil, which had arrived from Poland to Great Prince Vasiliy the IIIrd (Ivanovich); therefore, arrival occured within 1479 and 1533, Great Prince's lifetime. In 1685 noble metropolitan Vasiliy Mikhailovich Pokhvisnev had been granted with lands thanks to his service and activity during a war with Turkey and Khan of Crimea. Vasiliy's grandson, Mikhail Semenovich, had taken an active part in palace revolution of 1762nd as a captain of Izmailovsky regiment. Subsequently he was first honourable benefactor and senator in Moscow, also he was known as a closest collaborator of Betskoy in the matter of arrangement of a foundling hospital in Moscow. Noble family of Pokhvisnevs was included into VI volume of nobility of Orel Region, the part of Old Russian nobility.
