Portable electronic devices like mobiles and iPods are becoming so advanced that they are now the modern equivalent of Swiss Army knives, capable of carrying out a whole range of different tasks. Video gaming, meanwhile, is offering new levels of realism through advanced graphics technology and innovative control schemes. My site will allow you to evaluate the high-tech features of these modern electronic wonders, with a view to helping you decide which one is right for you.

Some of these devices resemble a magic wand, in that they're held in your hand and you literally wave them around to produce ' visions' on a TV screen (the Wii remote), or you can use them to hypnotize your mates with dazzling lights and sounds (video and mp3 on a portable media player or mobile phone).

Arthur C Clarke, author of 2001: A Space Odyssey, once said that any technology, in a highly advanced state, is indistinguishable from magic. And this, really, is where the main appeal lies for me. I just think it's brilliant that the world is now full of devices that 500 years ago would have been seen as highest sorcery; and I also love being able to carry around a little gadget that does so much.
