Band history......
Everclear was formed by Art Alexakis in 1992. They are originally from Portland, Oregon The original members were: Art Alexakis (guitar, vocals), Craig Montoya (bass), and Scott Cuthbert (drums). The band recorded a demo tape with a budget of about only $400. The tape was originally supposed to only be used to try to get gigs in clubs but was later released as their debut album, "World of Noise", in 1993. After the release of their first album, drummer Scott Cuthbert was kicked out of the band for violating Art's "no drug" policy. Soon after, Greg Eklund joined the band as the new drummer.
In 1995, Everclear released "Sparkle and Fade", their second album, and soon became very famous with hit songs like "Santa Monica" and "Heroin Girl". The album contains songs that were recorded before Scott was kicked out as well as after Greg joined.
In 1997, Everclear released "So Much For the Afterglow" which added to their fame with more hit songs such as "Everything to Everyone", "I Will Buy You A New Life", and "Father of Mine". Since this album was released around Christmas, a hidden track was added entitled: "I Will Be Hating You For Christmas".
In July of 2000, Everclear released their fourth album, "Songs From An American Movie: Vol. One, Learning How To Smile". This album is very different from their previous but is great nontheless. It includes a conver of "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison. Everclear has announced that the followup to this album, "Songs From An American Movie: Vol. Two, Good Time For A Bad Attitude", will be released later this coming fall.
