The buttons were created in
Adobe Photoshop 4.0, with the text bevel effect created using Extensis Phototools
(specifically, the Photobevel tool (inner bevel, round, middle, 2 pixel width, softness 3,
balence -46, highlight 40, shadow 14, 135 degree angle). The font is 18 pt. Arial Rounded
MT, with its color sampled from the button edge.
I've found that the trick to making consistent buttons in Photoshop is to make the basic
button without text on one layer, then make a new layer for the text for each button. That
way all the buttons can live in one source file.
Drop shadows are done by duplicating an image layer, filling it with the background color
(usually black), then doing a gaussian blur filter on the layer.
The pages are pretty straightforward, HTML-wise. I don't like frames or image maps when I
encounter them in other people's web pages, so I don't use them in mine. Tables can control
page layout adequately and work on almost all browsers now.
