| I first started listening to Tupac when he came out with the Me Against The World album which came out in 1995. At the time I just liked his music but started getting deep into it a little later, shortly before he died in 1996. The album that made me a lifetime fan was his Makaveli album, it is still my favorite of all time. I began getting deep into his lyrics and really hearing what he was saying in them, somehting I still think most people have yet to do. I find that when most people try to imitate 2Pac, they try to imitate the thug persona and nothing more, almost like thye don't realize there was so much more to him. What he taught me the most was to be real, not what most people call real, but to actually be yourself. Most people claim to be real but are nothing more than what they think people want to see, Tupac taught me to be myself and put it all out on the table. What I love about his music the most is the truth in his rhymes and his willingness to open up and let you in his life. So in every rhyme I write, I have to be real, I have to show myself because I know nothing else. The other thing I took from Tupac is his work ethic, I can only hope to have as much recorded material left behind when I die. And yes, I think he is the greatest rapper ever, he kind of made a category all his own by not just being a rapper but by being such a well rounded artist. I don't think there will ever be an over all rapper who will come close to Tupac's level. | ||||||||||
