The first time I ever heard Canibus was on the Firm album on the track "Desperados", and oh my god, he said he "walks across the sun barefoot looking for shade", it was over. I've been a fan ever since but didn't buy his first album because all I ever heard was how bad it was and the beats were all garbage, when I finally did buy it I have to say that I disagreed, I like it personally. I've bought every album he's released and was only disappointed with 2 really. People who listen to me can clearly see what I took from Canibus and that's his punchline style. When I first started rapping actually, punchlines was my thing, that's what people knew me for, it wasn't for the real life stuff I spit about now. Most people talk about guns to make punchlines or have to say something humorous, Canibus is more on that lyrical, scientific level where the lines make your jaw drop open and make you think at the same time, sometimes I don't even get it until a few years later. I also like the ruggedness he brings to the mic, he just sounds like he'll rip you. |
