This correction is by GRACE, and is found in the Book of Philemon, as Paul has corrected a brother and he is reinstated into a fellowship. In Grace he is given time to experience the renewed love of the brethren so as to come to an understanding of what his sin is and how it tears away at his righteousness before God, and also how it effects his judgments toward himself and others. He is not given a set of man-made rules and regulations to keep and left own his own. Christ was a friend to the sinner and lived and walked among the people. The religious leaders of his day, like those of the present day, condemned Christ himself for fellowshipping with sinners. If you wonder why young ministers go from church to church or leave the ministry, it is because they are caught between being the pastor, trying to please the people who do not want to be seen with such trash in a public place, and that of trying to assure the new convert that the people really do care about him. The church that has its identity in its own rules, rather that the principles of the Kingdom of God, turn the fellowship into a JAIL HOUSE, locking some in and some out, based on how well one attends its services and keeps their church rules or creeds. Looking back to what Jeremiah is saying: you may attend church or participate (fellowshipping in your religion) and at the SAME TIME find that your spiritual leader (priest or pastors) has abandoned MORAL and/or Upright Ways or Righteousness that Christians KNOW are right (the WAY to live before the Lord). They minister in a FORM of Godliness or keeping the rules and regulations of the church and never minister in the POWER of the Holy Spirit. Lets look at this scripture for a Key Word, and ask can a Modern-Day Minister be doing the same thing as they did in Pauls day? Note our Key word is STRIFE.
Philip. 1:15 (KJV) Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will Now lets look at the results of preaching Christ out of ENVY and STRIFE
Philip. 1:15-18 (KJV) Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: [16] The one preaches Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: [17] But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. [18] What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Paul says one Group preaches out of ENVY and the other out of STRIFE and both are preaching out of CONTENTION then in COMPETITION. On the other hand, there are those that preach Christ in the light that there is ONE KINGDOM and in doing so preach out of LOVE. NOW, lets look for these two key words in the following scripture!
Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV) ... |
