Prophecy the MUD was created in 1995 by Emil Eifrem and Thierry Coutelier. It is based on the "Belgariad" & "Malloreon" book series written by David and Leigh Eddings and runs with a heavily modified ROM 2.4 code with a lot of unique features such as a clan system and mob-run Quests.

New areas based on the Belgariad are constantly being added with the help of a productive builder staff. The MUD is 95% original areas, with only a few "stock" MUD areas left. Prophecy offers a clan system which means that players may band with friends to create armies or guilds.

The mud encourages Roleplaying with a system of rewards offered for storyboarding or "real-time" roleplay via the RP channel, as well as player created Roleplaying clans. It also encourages Playerkilling with playerkilling clans and rewards for being a playerkiller. Each clan offers a specific set of benefits to its members.
