Introduction to UFO's

UFO's are always a sticky issue, so for clarity this section will only cover data for Contemporary UFO's. For ancient sightings and data please go to the section titled:

ancient knowledge

1947 saw the beginning of the new wave of UFO activity, mainly over sensitive military and industrial sites. This activity quickly raised concerns in all of the worlds governing and military establishments. After all, many of these sites were home to newly developed atomic technologies and weapons facilities. It is possible that this renewal of interest in mankind came about directly due to the development of those technologies. After all the act of man most visible from a distance, and significant in his development is still an atomic explosion.

But this explaination precludes the possibility of interstellar visitors. Why? Well because the first major destructive surface atomic explosion was at Hiroshima in 1945, and according to the laws of physics the light travelling from this explosion couldn't have reached our nearest star neighbors at Alpha Centari across the interstellar void until 1949.

Yet with many years of detailed scientific analysis of our own solar system under our belt, the likelihood of space going alien races sharing our sun and remaining undetected seems even more implauseable. While it is quite possible that extraterrestrials could use many of the planets in our solarsystem as a base of operations, it is unlikely that any of them could have afforded the necessary conditions for their evolution. So how and why do they begin to re-appear in half the time it takes for light leaving Earth to reach Alpha Centari ?
