How Will You Be Remembered?

A person's life is as a drop of water in a river that flows to the sea. Generations come and generations go. Few know the names of their ancestors even only four or five generations removed. Few who do know the names know anything about those ancestors. And yet people live, and lives go on, all rushing to that sea.

What will be remembered about this drop of water? Will anyone know that it had a mind and feelings and problems and loves? Will anyone remember its great wisdom or its great folly? Few are remembered for long.

Do not be proud of your looks as if you earned them. Do not be proud of your country or community as if you chose it. Do not be proud of your family that you had no choice about. All of these are accidental. Instead, be proud of what you do and the good impression you make on the future.
