| The Secret to Life... (As I Know It Anyways) "220,000 Laws on the books, just to get us all to follow the Ten Commandments!" My dying mother said this the other day. Myself, I had come to realize that if only the world, even if only every other person, could follow just two rules, how wonderful the world would be. I can even do you one better! ONE rule� The secret to life� JUST ONE RULE� "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?" "The most important one� answered Jesus, "is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind and with all your strength" If we should keep our love and reverence of God in our mind at every moment, in every action or inaction, decision and thought we pursue in life throughout our days and nights, any other rule or law would simply fall into place before us. You see, everything God created, including every person, no matter how vile the may be to us, is a creation of God, and our reverence of God should remind us of the respect we owe, unconditionally. As a second reinforcement of the greatest commandment, Jesus said, �The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:28-31) There are only TWO RULES in life that really matter: 1. Love God 2. Love Others All other Commandments, Laws, Social Rules, etc. simply fall into place peacefully if only these TWO RULES are applied. Can you imagine how wonderful the world would be if everyone could just follow these TWO RULES? Even if only every other person could strive to follow these two great commandments! I find myself wondering how on Earth I missed these simple little TWO RULES for 30+ years. They were always there, as they have been for thousands of years� In our world and societies, we are so busy Denying and Defying God, avoiding the inconvenience of following these TWO RULES that we are caught in a quagmire � We have guilt and shame, but we defiantly deny that we �had a choice� and we feel like we don�t really have a way out without giving up our precious lives as we know it. *THE GOOD NEWS IS � (I always wondered what the �Good News� was � especially when I saw Bibles inscribed as the �Good News Bible� or heard people talk about �The Good News� in terms of Faith because I have been pretty sure for my entire life that I was going to Hell on a Rocket for my sins) � THE GOOD NEWS IS Christ Jesus came here to save the Sinners (1 Timothy 1:15) as he said� �I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32) �All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God� (Rom. 3:23) �Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved, and thy house" (Acts 16:31) Why should we Love God or Christ, as God burdened us with this life we have been dealt and caused us to be this way that we are? �We love him, because he first loved us� (1 John 4:19) But what about all the bad we have done � And the mistakes we know we will make in the future because we are so imperfect? �And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us� (Romans 5:5) �To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved� (Ephesians 1:6) God is perfect love and made us lovingly perfect for that which is his plan� In all of our imperfections, God knows us, and loves us for who we are. In our love for God, we only have to �repent.� The Greek word translated repentance means "to change one's mind." It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance a changing of mind about God, about sin, and about one's self. It goes much farther than being sorry for our sin. ...Apply just TWO RULES� Then Live, Laugh, and most especially Love� Love God, and Love others� Love Everyone. |
