Hello and welcome. This is a weird but fun mod i did with a tyco canned heat R/C.I hope you will like it.
This is a tyco canned heat R/C. You can see it started as a VW beetle.
This is a 1/32 scale Tamiya juggernaught motorized model kit.
And wah-lah tyco-tamiya hybrid!
Ok here is the jist! I used the tamiya motor that came with the model, amazingly it was the same except that it had a nice blue plastic endbell(update the motor is now a tamiya ultra torque motor, and it is insanely fast now).I made my own five cell hump battery from old phone batteries from a local dollar store.I made a longer antenna which dramadically increased the range.I also made the custom body supprt out of sheet alluminum.I used parts from 1/10 scale shock spring retainers to fit the rims onto the tyco rims. And some dremel tool action on the tyco frame to give wheel clearance.
All and all the R/C is really a lot of fun.It moves out well and is really actually pretty fast.Does nice wheelies,i used the wheelie bar that came in the tamiya kit.But there is one draw back however,i doubled the voltage from 3 to 6 volt on the mod and run times are short(3-4 minutes)beacuse the motor get real hot.But it is still a lot of fun and when people at the hobbyshop see it for the first time want to know how i got a tiny juggernaught kit.LOL then i tell them what i did.
Like i said people really dont know what it is when they see it.Probably beacause its so small and really fast.To give you an idea of its size i took this pic next to a $20 dollar bill just to show how small this MT really is.Thanks and i hope you enjoy this project as much as i did.
