Prone To Panic
Hello! My name is Evelyn Gaughan, author of Prone To Panic, a self-help guide to coping with Social Phobia (Anxiety).

I was diagnosed in 2002 and have been searching for the Holy Grail of cures ever since!  Whilst I have not yet found a cure, I have discovered a new way of life and a reason to celebrate my shyness - REALLY!

Three years of research and personal experience have gone into the pages of
Prone To Panic, which has ultimately become the kind of book I was searching for when first diagnosed.  I felt that there was a total lack of information available on the subject, especially from the 'patients' point of view.  I do not have a PhD in psychology, but I do have a PhD in living day-to-day with anxiety.  My aim is to inform, offer support and say, "it's ok, you're not crazy!"

Just to give you a little background information, I am Irish and lived abroad for many years (France, Canada). My qualifications are in marketing, but it was Social Phobia that led me to follow my true passions; writing and art.  No one understands better than I that living with anxiety and panic attacks is no picnic, but there are ways of coping with it and working around it.  That is what I hope to share with you in
Prone To Panic, a book for anxiety sufferers written by an anxiety sufferer.

Arguments persist over whether or not Anxiety is heredity, chemical or environmental, but whatever the cause, I do not believe it is something that should be judged as either 'bad' or 'good'.  It just is what it is and the sooner we accept ourselves for who we are and allow ourselves to feel afraid, the sooner we can come to terms with what we are experiencing.  Just remember, you are not alone!
