Alicia and Gilbert's wedding
October 25, 2003 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas are quite rich in history, cultural institutions, and natural beauty. Here are a few suggestions for things to do but this is very preliminary. We will keep expanding this area as time goes on. Museums Carnegie Museum of Art Carnegie Museum of Natural History Andy Warhol Museum The Mattress Factory The Frick Art and Historical Center Day Trips Fallingwater , Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous house, is about an hour drive from Pittsburgh. Kentuck Knob is another lesser-known and wonderful house built by Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s located about a half hour from Fallingwater. There is a beautiful sculpture garden surrounding the home. Seeing both houses in one day is a lovely day trip! Hiking and other outdoor activities The Western Pennsylvania Field Institute provides many opportunities for outdoor activities in and around Pittsburgh. If you’re looking less structured to do something outdoors, let us know and Carrie, our resident outdoorswoman and maid of honor, can help you come up with something! Concerts and Music The Pittsburgh Symphony is considered to be one of the greatest orchestras in the country. Heinz Hall is located about three blocks from the hotel. The Crawford Grill is a legendary jazz club in Pittsburgh. From what many say, it is well worth the trip. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is the city’s major newspaper. The Pittsburgh City Paper is the free rag around town and has current listings on most of the events going on each week. alicia and gilbert's wedding --> pittsburgh and environs |
