Welcome to endviolence.net / toleranceeverywhere.com, the website
dedicated to collecting and
spreading ideas on
how to end extremist violence around the world. There's no doubt that
the world is seeing an alarming growth of extremist violence,
particularly in the Middle East, but in many other places as well.
We don't have all the answers, but we do know that radical extremists
have killed too many people, repressed many more through fear, continue
to warp people's minds, and
endanger the future of the world. If we don't find ways to put an end
to the extremist violence there may not be a world to pass on to future
generations. The builders of this website are concerned about the issue
from all angles, from opening the minds of those who believe that their
religion or race is superior to others, to finding proper ways of
countering or correcting those who purposely kill innocent people for
political or
so-called religious reasons.
Whether you are concerned about addressing the causes of hatred,
finding ways to stop the growth of violence-minded bigotry and
extremist organizations, or simply
preventing needless persecution and suffering, please add your ideas to
what we hope will become a worldwide chorus of human voices to turn
back this awful tide. We welcome all suggestions, except those which
condone the view that other people who do not accept a certain beliefs
must be killed or hurt.
This is not a casual undertaking. It is no less critical than the fight
against Naziism was in the 1930's, or the fight against other
dictatorial regimes throughout history - except that extremists are now
able to secure increasingly powerful weapons. The need is urgent, and
there is no time to waste.

The builders of this website invite you to contribute your ideas,
whatever they be, to the shared collection of suggestions on how to put
an end to extremist violence. We accept all ideas as long as they don't
themselves promote more hatred and violence. To add your ideas, all you
have to do is click on the
link below, select a category, and type
away. From the smallest to the largest, from actions of writers to
actions of government, all ideas are welcome in the movement for
protecting civilization.
Your suggestions will be made available for all to see on the internet,
and be searchable with easily accessible tools. To help organize the
suggestions, we've identified several categories, but we hope that many
more come forward. The current categories are:

Racism, hatred, and violence in the name of religion are a scourge on
humanity. There is nothing higher than trying to stop these terrible
trends. Thank you for helping to spread tolerance and promote
understanding.

http://alumni.concordia.ca/pdfs/Power_Montreal.pdf
Excerpts:
"We can all live with each other believing there is truth. The trouble
is whether you believe any flawed human being can be in absolute
possession of that truth," he said. "When you see this fellow [Abu
Musab al-] Zarqawi who runs the al-Qaeda operation out of the Sunni
section of Iraq hoping to dominate Jordan, saying his first priority is
not to kill Jews, it's not to kill Americans, it's not to kill
Westerners -- his first priority is to kill Shiite Muslims and moderate
Sunnis who don't agree with him, what he calls the near enemy, you see
this carried to its absurd link." ...
"If you believe anybody can actually completely know the truth and turn
it into a political program that is completely true, then what do you
need God for? ... The hope and idea of any religion is that all living
human beings have imperfect knowledge and are imperfect by definition
and that life is a journey toward the truth. When people short-circuit
that and claim they have the truth and have a political program that's
absolutely true and if you don't agree with me you're less than human
and I can kill you, which is what's going on halfway around the world,
that is the problem.
....
"If we don't walk away from that, we're going to tear the world apart.
If we do, I believe the 21st century will be the most exciting,
prosperous, interesting time the world has ever known and you don't
have the luxury of leaving that to the politicians."

What is needed is a renewed cultural offensive on the scale of a world
war, but with dissemination of peace and understanding as its primary
tools.
A world charter on how to tell the difference between a terrorist and a
freedom fighter.
