A short flashback

 

November 1995: Five students of the Technical Educational Institution of Lamia form a band named “Inside Joke». They are Kostas Psallas-Vocals and Lead Guitars, Dimitris Koromilas-Rhythm Guitars, John Stathopoulos-Bass guitars, Diomidis Vlachopoulos-Keyboards and Simon Georgiou-Drums.

 

February 1996: The first live gig at the Lamia Youth Center. Quite a disaster but that’s how they all begin, don’t they??

 

March 1995: Second gig at the Lamia Public Theater. A Live Aid for the peace comity and a good one too!! (Diomidis signs his first autograph to a girl fan. Of course later on he goes steady with her)

 

April 1995: A series of gigs for the band which now is very popular in the city of Lamia.

 

October 1995: The band gets a job. Live every Thursday at the “Blue Lagoon Club” in Lamia. As good as it gets….or not??

 

March 1996: Inside Joke at their first out of Lamia gig. Live in the  “I can’t fucking remember the name of it” Club in the city of Trikala. A huge success but we almost got killed about five times trying to overpass every single giant truck on the road with our rented –piece of junk- Fiat Panda!!!  It is only Rock ‘n’ Roll but I like….

 

May 1996: Dimitris Koromilas leaves the band for personal reasons. John Palios steps into his place for one gig and later on Kostas Achilleiou fills in for him. That was the last form Inside Joke had until the end of the band.

 

June 1996: The first gig with Kostas Achilleiou in the guitars (Club Yazz, Lamia). Let’s just say it all went wrong!!!  

 

October 1996: The band begins to write its own songs. The first one was called “Απ’άκρη σ’άκρη” in Lyrics of Simon Georgiou and music of Kostas Psallas.

 

February 1997: Inside Joke win the second place in the A.M.A.N. funniest videos contest with their video clip of the song “Ελα να κάνουμε Sex”. The song becomes a hit in all Lamias Radio stations play lists.

 

March 1997: Inside Joke play as a support group for Echo Tattoo and Λευκή Συμφωνία. This was the greatest gig ever for them.

 

June 1997: Inside Joke live at T.E.I. Lamias in front of about 2000 people. One of the few live recordings saved. A MUST listen to!!!

 

July 1997: Inside Joke record their only Promo tape with four of their songs. One of them was “Τρείς μέρες” which you can find in my Music samples section of the Simon Georgiou Publishes Web Page.

 

February 1998: Inside Joke live at the “Velvet Underground Club”, Lamia. The Epitaph…Inside Joke terminated due to a single reason: The Greek Army.

 

September 1998: Kostas Achilleiou and Simon Georgiou meet Nikos Siakoufis (Vocals, Acoustic guitars) and Nikos Giavredelis (Bass guitars) and formed a cover band named “Deep4Deep”.

 

October 1998: Deep4Deep book for season in a small bar in Lamia called “Μουσικό Στέκι”. The band was a success from the first night and the palce was packed every Sunday and Monday the Band played.

 

March 1998: Deep4Deep are now Lamia’s new favorite Band.

 

October 1998: The Greek Army calls Kostas Achilleiou. Thomas Papoutsas is now Deep4Deep’s new Guitarist. The band becomes funkier and louder and books another season at the “steki”.

 

February 1999: The band does a lot of other gigs all around Lamia with great success.

 

March 1999: The band plays at Orhomenos, Levadia. Great gig, half of the band get themselves the opportunity to prove that their not only good musician (if you know what I mean) but a lousy return home.

 

October 2000: Nikos Dimitriou(Keyboards) becomes the newest member of Deep4Deep.The Band changes to a more progressive style and now ideas pop about how good it would be to record our own songs. The band of course continues to be a resident Act at the “Steki” with the greatest success ever.

 

April 2001: After a great time of touring all around Fthiotida and Central Greece Deep4Deep decide that the time is right to record their own work.

 

April 2001: This was surely the greatest trip of all. Deep4Deep in Athens, recording their first -but unluckily the only- CD with 6 Original tracks… The feeling was and still remains indescribable. The CD was named “Πρώτο Ταξίδι” and was released from the band in about 200 copies, all sold out.

 

May 2001: Deep4Deep play their last gig at the Velvet Underground Club in Lamia presenting their CD. The gig was one of the best the band ever had.

 

May 2001: Nikos Siakoufis joins the Greek Army to be followed later on by all the remaining members of Deep4Deep.

 

October 2003: Simon Georgiou builds this site to host as many of this memories as possible. Remixing and re-composing stuff from these two Bands is something that as Nikos Giavredelis says in my guestbook “keeps the dream going on”. Inside Joke and Deep4Deep are now one, under the name of “Deep Inside”. And as long as we keep it Deep Inside us then maybe one day we may all get together again with our wives and children and Rock once again…. Because it’s “only Rock ’n’ Roll…and we still like it.
