About Our Rotties Page
Home
At Prometheus Kennels our aim is to produce dogs of exceptional loyalty and temperment that improve both the breed and the breed reputation.  To this end we carefully select the very best breeding stock, and raise all our dogs in a family environment.  Elsa is the daughter of Caspa Vom Schmandberg BH, AD, SchHIII and Ch Ava Vom Waldesrand CD.  Her first breeding was to Bill Von Menzingen and her last 2 breedings were to Goro Von Blackbear, son of
Graf Von DerTeufelsbrucke SchHIII, IPOIII, AD, BH and grandson of
Caser Von Eisplatz SchHIII, AD, Korung.  If there is one common comment made of Elsa and her offspring, it is how good natured they are while still remaining protectively alert.  All our dogs are house pets first, raised around small children and constantly attended to.  This produces dogs of sound temperment, that are used to people both young and old as well as other animals.  We are looking for owners that can give our dogs all the love and attention they deserve and are looking for a Rottweiler of exceptional quality.  If you think this is the type of Rottweiler you want and can provide a good and stable home environment, I invite you to contact us and we will be happy to supply you with a list of references.
Rottweilers are descendants of the powerful Mastiff type dogs that herded and guarded the cattle that accompanied the Roman army on their march accrossed Europe and were left behind to guard outposts along the way.  One such outpost was in the area of Wurttemburg, Germany were they interbred with local herding dogs to become a strong and loyal breed known as 'the butcher's dog of Rottweill'.  The dogs were so named because they would guard the butcher's money on the way to cattle sales and drive the cattle home on the return trip.  The Rottweiler is a  smooth coated dog with males standing 24" to 27" at the shoulders, and females standing about 2" less.  Rottweilers develop strong ties and loyalaties that make them naturally devoted family and protection dogs.  The deep and unconditional love they give to their masters and their immediate family make them very good with children, if brought up by responsible owners around responsible children.  They are normally quiet and easy going and are a joy to own, although they do require lots of outdoor excerise and demand attention.  Training should start early.  Before purchasing a Rottweiler you must be sure you are ready and willing, to commit the time and effort to properly care, excerise and train your dog.
