16.0hh Rare White
Imagine a day when the rare "white thoroughbred" is no longer a genetic fluke or a roll of the proverbial dice; risky business, no sliding in socks. Thoroughbreds of color are quite rare. According to the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), as of 2003, there have been only 40 double registered Thoroughbred Paint horses in the entire history of the association. Color in equine terms is typically the splashing of white hairs and unpigmented skin on the body above the cannon, on the underside, or behind the face. The Paint Thoroughbred is a horse which has splashes of white color beyond a patch of a few inches. The ultimate expression of color, then, is the pure white horse. The sabino white thoroughbred is not known to carry the Lethal White gene of Overos! There had only been 17 registered white thoroughbreds in the history of the Jockey Club, as of 2002.
