Annual March For Life in Washington DC -  2006- Maine Pictures
The following is a "letter To editor" of Bangor Daily News that was never printed.

If you were fortunate enough to have to time  to tune into Channel 17, EWTN on Monday morning,  Jan 23rd, you would have experienced what will go down in US History of as one of our finest hours, that is, the 32nd Annual March For Life in Washington, DC.

President Bush extended a warm welcome to the DC visitors, with an empowering speech relayed through phone hook-up.  However, the major newsworthy item is that, despite the miserable rainy weather, tens of thoughsands of people from all over the country, many of them youth descended upon this city, prayed in it's cathedrals, sleplt on it's floors, and on a Monday morning while allt he dutiful civil servants were trying to make their way to their offices, this crowd marched on cordoned off streets from the Washington Monument to the US Supreme Court for four hours.

Some day historians will look back at this non-violent  protest as part of the revolution that changed the course of history.  On a curious note, neither the CBS evening news, nor the Bangor Daily News carried this story.  Isn't it ironic how it only takes one anti-war protestor holding a sign along the street to get noticed?

Some quotes from attendees:

"The march was terrific, mostly the under 30 group!  It was wonderful to watch high school kids encircle the protestors....ony a few were there...and dance around them for an hour or more chanting "hey, hey, R v. W. is going away" and other little ditties they make up"    by Carolyn Gilman-former Maine State Senator
Most Reverend Richard Malone, Bishop of Diocese of Portland
