| Erectile Dysfunction and Establishment Darwinism by Terry Hughes | ||||
| When Bob Dole lost his Position of Power as Senate Majority Leader in Washington, so he could run for President against Bill Clinton, he was thoroughly trounced by Clinton, who had no trouble "rising" to the occasion. That experience apparently left Dole with Erectile Dysfunction (D), because the next time we saw him he was on TV pushing Viagra as a "cure for ED" (edited) Why do I bring this up? Because it is now obviious to me that Establishment Darwinism (ED) has been exposed as flaccid (soft and limber, flabby, limp, NOT FIRM--The American College Dictionary) when confronted by the virility of Intelligent Design (ID). Establishment Darwinism (ED) is now experiencing Erectile Disfunction (ED). As an admission of Erectile Disfunction, it now has to go to American Courts to find judges who sympathize with its impotence and are willing to apply splints to preserve the illusion of vitality by ordering that ID not engate in any competition with ED in public schools. In my professional lifetime, dating from 1968, I've witnessed three Scientific Revolutions. The first was replacement of the old Geosyncline Theory as the unifying paradigm in geology with Plate Tectonics. I made some minor contributions to that, getting enough papers upblished to be invited to one major scientific symposium on the subject in 1980. The next was replacement of the Milankovitch Theory of Ice AGes, that allowed only slow changes in climate over thousands of years, by a new paradigm that allows rapid, even abrupt, climate changes in as little as one year, or even less. I had more to contribute in that Revolution, still underway, by making a case that Earth's continental ice sheets, past and present, were and are capable of undergoing changes in size and shape that are big enough and fast enough to trigger rapid climate chagnes. Some of these rapid ice-sheet changes are taking place in Greenland and Anatarctica right now, and I'm among those studying them. NSF has committed nearly $20 million toward that goal this year, with another $20 million in five years, by setting up a Science and technology Center at the University of Kansas to find out why. That's Big Bucks for a small scientific community like glaciology. The Third, of course, is the transformation now underway to explain macro-evolution as a consequence of Intelligent Design (ID), and relegating Establishment Darwinism (ED) to just micro-evolution of the kind that can account only for variations within a species by natural selection, such as virus strains that resist vaccines. Even there, Intelligent Design produces produces the most dreamatic results by designed selecdtiver breeding. Anyone who watches a dog show knows that. My only contributions to this Revolution are one or two published articles and these emails. |
