ZOO KEEPING

Following points should be considered while taking care of the zoo animals.
1. Feed the animals properly and as per the schedule.
2. Report should be kept on the health and condition of the animal - estrus, mating, birth, death, loss of appetite, abnormal faces, dullness in the movement, discharge from the mouth, eyes, nostrils, anus and uterus.
3. Cleanliness of cages, enclosure, moats, their surrounding - including removal of refuse, washing and scrubbing the animal cells, removing the weeds and bushes from the enclosure and surroundings, feeding troughs, water troughs, and the raised platforms should be maintained.
4. Suitable cage furniture like planting trees and branches and other designer equipment should be provided.
5. Damage to enclosure, cages, and structures etc should be properly repaired.
6. No material should remain in the animals vicinity likely to injure the animal like nails, wire bits, mesh, ropes, plastic materials, sharp tools etc.
7. All doors and gates of enclosure and cages should be securely fastened and locked to prevent escape or unauthorized opening.
8. Never allow unauthorized persons into the animal enclosure.
9. Protect the animals in their cages from vandalisms, throwing stones, feeding and teasing etc.
10. Educate the people and not abuse them.
