Project Stewardship

Leilehua High School

2002-2003

Leilehua High School has been participating in Project Stewardship since we first started back in 1997.  Now in their sixth year, students involved for the 2002-2003 school year are shown here with their teacher, Mr. Danny Au.
This year, Leilehua High School students have modified their program to make it work with their academic schedule.

Their first field trip consisted of an introductory hike and initial mapping and monitoring of their school's plot.  Students identified flora and fauna (shown below), calculated percent cover of various species using point-intercept monitoring (shown here), and mapped out their plots.

During their final field trip, students  removed invasive alien vegetation, out-planted native species, and re-monitored their plot.
