Steve Harradine

The original, embryonic idea will come to me as a shape,  like brainwaves, snowflakes; I try and put the sounds into a visible form. I rely on the raw ideas that are evoked when I first hear the music in question. I put it into a rough sketch so the idea isnt lost and then build on that.
Then as the creation process unfolds, I either stick with doing it all geometrically and making into a "perfect", natural but mathematical image, or I draw without any prior sketches and the composition builds and forms as it goes along.
One line, or section of the drawing could inspire another idea or thought and I just start drawing that as it comes to me, and so on. Your mind can be in different states for different purposes.
You can be an architect and scientist, doing everything preciscly, or you can be an ever changing movie screen of images that end up in some small way in the artwork. or..you can combine them both, which is essentially what I do.
