THE CHANGE IN HUMANITY AND MANY THINGS DISAPPEARING
Yep, it was Monday. I was on my way up to Monroe and I was thinking back to winter's past. I remember as a young lad I used to always be fucking around in the shitty polluted snow of Pennsylvania with all the awesome black snow from refinery emissions. Me and the neighbors would be shoveling snow for a week cause where I lived was in a valley and the snow clouds would get stuck in them little bastards so it would be snowing badass for long periods of time. Anyways, I used to play in the snow. Tunnel around. Build forts. Build snow men. I was like 4 and I probably did that stuff til I was 9 or something but then the intervention of technology such as "the Ultimate Doom" on PC made me lose my interest of the great outdoors and games like Quake 2, anyways every year since that year I've noticed less and less snowmen. I think around 12 years old I got my yappy ass outside again in the spring summers and falls I'd bike around and shoot shit with my pellet rifles and fuck but mostly just bike around to get to people's houses to hang out or shit. Like Nicole Stroghmeyer or Chris Prokay, awesome people. Anyways, the winters would roll around and I sure as hell never liked being cold so I never seen why would I spend all that time in the cold building something that would melt away so I haven't built a snowman since I was 9 or something. Anyways, I guess with the advent of video games and television with 900 channels and online chatting a lot of things are disappearing.
These are things that are disappearing rapidly and some are gone:
Remote Controlled Airplanes
Rockets
Snowmen
Lawn Darts
Fishing (Yes I fished A lot as a kid)
Tree Houses
Squirt Guns
Garage Bands
Go-Karts
Whiffle Ball
Slot Cars
Skip-its
Glyders (huge foam ones)
kites
BB Guns (I'd expect the power of having a semi-destructive instrument of leisure time would at least intrigue small people but I guess PS2 has taken over).
Kids sneaking into the woods and getting drunk
Forts in the woods
Mountain Bike trails
Sleds
Roller Blades
Boom Boxes (Being used that is, I still see them in people's rooms but not on sidewalks and shit anymore)
that weird ass sidewalk chalk
Matchbox Cars
Those big plastic car things for ill kids
Po-go sticks
KICK soda
Walky Talkies
Slide Whistles
Sand boxes
Bicycle Clans (where you and 3 of your best friends would bike around looking for something badass to do)
Sling Shots
Remote Controlled Cars
Hoola Hoops
Slinkies
Bazooka Bubblegun
Yo-Yo's
Kids building dams in the water
Pens with multiple pens inside it with different colors
Whistles that require water
Pump up shoes....
There are a lot more. All these things existed as a BIG thing when I was in school but they all faded away or are in the process of. Sure you'll see a couple people doing some of this shit on occasion but when I was growing up these things were huge. Now I think the only outdoors things that truly survived where skateboarding, paintball, biking on one speed bikes, surfing, and that's really about it. Sad isn't it? People are becoming very indoors. I guess technology does this. Oh well. I'm out.
