| BIG CORPORATIONS SUCK | |||||
| Well as you can probably tell, every school has the disgruntled punk kids who listen to all this weird ass music no one else has ever even heard about. Here is why... Big corporations run the radio, television, government, record labels, and just about anything else you can think of. These big corporations control what we listen to by using the tool called "mainstream" television and radio (Things like MTV or any FM radio station). Here is why corporate music sucks. A: Big corporations choose what gets played on the radio by who pays the most. The highest bidder gets their video on MTV. People don't get on MTV cause they are good, they get on MTV cause their record label is willing to throw 2.5 million at them. B: Corporate bands all suck because their music is "produced". Yes produced kinda like cattle. The music is chopped apart and textured and layered and slowed down and sped up and reordered and filtered. A lot of the times their songs are completely re-written by the record executives at the head of the companies. And my friends, this is why bands like LINKIN PARK suck ass. They are incredibly produced. They are damn near synthized techno. Even BLINK182 has fallen soft to the corporate giant. They used to make kickass songs like M+M's but now they have a lot of synthizesed sounds and studio produced effects. C: Because of the fact the corporations pay for what you hear you only hear about 5% of the music there is. This is cause independant record companies don't have the money to get their music played on MTV cause big companies outbid them. These big companies control mainstream. It's the only reason rap ever got big. In early 1992, NIRVANA came in and completely devestated mainstream America by destroying everything the large record executives made mainstream and turning pop culture on end. Unfortunately their cd NEVERMIND (which got them big) was altered by the studio to the point where Smells Like Teen Spirit was rewritten completely. The original version of Smells Like Teen Spirit was more on the line of what DEFTONES sounds like. The record companies wouldn't even touch that. D: You only get big if a corporation thinks you can be easily manipulated to make pop music. Yes it is sad. You're probably saying "HELL NO I LISTEN TO PUNK BANDS LIKE BLINK182 AND GREEN DAY!"...Uhg..Yeah, BLINK182 and GREEN DAY are a lot better than most of what is on the radio but they are still pop. Real punk is a power chord driven sport of kings completely saturated with the smell of sweat and blood with a vampid dose of adrenaline in your veins when you hit the pits. It's funny watching preppy bastards accidently walk into a pit. Well as you can see, corporate America controls your life. Have a nice day. :) ---Chris--- |
