Laura Craig’s Project Blue

Laura Craig   is a singer and songwriter who uses her remarkable voice and wide ranging keyboard technique to create works that don’t fall neatly into any one category.

With a thorough grounding in every style from classical/opera to country & back again, she followed her love of the blues from her home town of Oceanside, CA to north Mississippi.  Along the way she has paid her dues in clubs, festivals, coffee houses and blues venues in Southern California.

Having won numerous competitions including San Diego and Portland Songwriters and the prestigious Mid-Atlantic competition, her songwriting brings her eclectic influences into play, her spirit-shaking imagery a perfect compliment to her powerhouse vocals & innovative keyboard style.

Laura is also the longtime keyboard player for Fat Possum Record’s ‘Outsider’ blues artist James Johnson, better known to his many fans as ‘SuperChikan’.

Her work in this capacity has let Laura play with T-model Ford and the legendary Big Jack Johnson, as well as share the stage with artists from Percy Sledge to Mark Chesnutt, and she has entertained thousands of blues lovers from the famous Ground Zero in Clarksdale Mississippi, to Memphis’ immensely popular Beale Street Music Festival.

After making her home in North Mississippi for several years, Laura is passionately dedicated to further combining her West Coast influences with the Delta flavor she has come to love.

To make that goal a reality, Laura has formed  Project Blue,  a collaboration with Paul Nunis, the Memphis musician who shares her love of blues, and who also has the background to bring in influences from every style of music.

Paul Nunis aka. TheBluescaster   ( http://www.geocities.com/thebluescaster/bluescasterhome.html ) is a multi-instrumentalist on basically anything with strings, - guitars, mandolin, lap steel,  come to life in a very personal style in his hands.

After many years of playing clubs and festivals all over the East Coast and the South, with everyone from ‘Sir Charles’ Atkins to jazz violinist Mark Russell, Paul has returned home to Memphis, where he is known as one of the most innovative and exciting blues guitarists on the scene today.

Project Blue is a rare opportunity for two experienced and talented creative forces to forge a new blues vision, and a chance for music fans to hear something special and powerful come to life.
