Background:
From birth, Katherine Bugayev had been groomed for a destiny that has lasted almost four hundred years: The last of the Romanov dynasty, the rulers of Russia before the Bolsheviks and Communism took over. Sent to the finest schools, it looked like Katherine would take on the role as matriarch of that dying dream. However, as the years passed, she would often spend afternoons looking out over the harbor of her native Vladivostok in Russia. There, quietly rusting away was a monument to the glory of the past: The Russian Pacific Fleet. However, she would instead join the Air Force, like her hero Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space.

Aghast, her parents had a simple declaration: If you leave us, it is exile. Katherine called their bluff and joined with the Russian Federation Air Force. After an accelerated program, she graduated with full honors a Junior Lieutenant within the Russian Federation Air Force. Almost immediately, due to her knowledge of Computers, as well as Engineering to an extent, she was handpicked by Colonel Chekov, the liaison to the SGC for inclusion in the SGC's teams as a Computer/Gate Technician.

Psychological Evaluation:
Like the majority of Russian women in the (Russian) armed services, Lieutenant Bugayev is cold. So cold, she makes Siberia seem like "Club Med". Isn't sarcasm wonderful? Lieutenant Bugayev is dedicated, having given up a life of apparent luxury to join the military, so she has no place else to go. She's traded one form of service to the Rodina (Motherland) for another kind. Problem is, that's made her a little too independent for her own good and needs to learn that working within a team not only requires skills, but also friendship. All in all, a fine officer who knows her stuff.
