The Rock "Shower Scene" (video)

This is NOT what one usually thinks of when you hear "Shower Scene"...

Editor Coment: One of the greatest movie scene I have ever scene with such epic music that goes along with it...

I've watched this so many times it's not even funny.

It still gives me chills when I watch it.

Ed Harris & Michael Biehn, that was a intense round of dialogue.

It was a one-sided battle. The scene is really good in portraying and constrast the contest of ideals:

Hummel's idea of getting justice and recognition for those who fell in service to their country and forgotten ("no one gets left behind") vs. Anderson's loyalty to one's state, to protect loved ones and others belonging to the state even if forgotten by them. To emphasize this, unfortunately, SEALs were killed off - to die trying rather than exposing their home to danger.

This scene is very powerful and to be honest tough to watch. But a great scene from the film none the less. Also, those could have been a bunch of deer hunters from Wisconsin on top and the Seals would have been in trouble. Elevated covered position looking down on the Seals and have them completely surrounded. The SEALs had absolutely no chance of winning this fight...

No matter how well trained you are... you will be scared. They were facing death, I'm pretty sure that is what they were thinking. "We're dead". What could they possibly do, other then surender? I know its nice to be all Gung Ho, but you know when you're fucked.

If the Marines were in the SEALs' boots, they'd be just as fucked.

Commander Anderson is one of the best movie characters ever.

Ed Harris was the best damn actor in this movie, no doubt!

Why are Marines killing SEALs?

Watch the movie and you'll find out. Its' actually pretty good as far as run of the line hollywood action films go.

The whole gangsta thing is whats wrong with America today

Even in the wake of being charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence for allegedly killing one pedestrian tourist and injuring another last week, 18-year-old Genovese had kept his MySpace profile public and used his mugshot as his profile picture, and he brags of his exploits with pot, alcohol, graffiti and fast cars.

Family members declined to comment after the search, but told police people were overreacting to Genovese's mistake.

Pictures on Genovese's MySpace page could work against him in light of the incident.

Genovese brags about how sexy he looks when he's high, and has posted pictures of himself smoking out of a bong.

And, although he's been quoted on camera as saying that he's "not a drinker at all," there are at least nine photographs on his page in which he's pictured holding various types of alcohol.

Right before Genovese turned himself in to face vehicular homicide charges, the tone of his online postings changed drastically.

"im just waitin 4 demm 2 kum gett mee," he wrote to one friend. "i love youu u no i didnt want it 2 go this way godd just needed to teach me the ways of life the hard way to set me straight."

According to one law enforcement source, Genovese was nowhere near as tough as he appears on his MySpace page when he turned himself in with his lawyer and family.

The teen looked "pale-faced and kept throwing up," the source said. The source said that Genovese didn't say much, except that he was distraught over the incident.

He remains in prison, unable to post $200,000 bail.

Editor Coment: Is there anything more enjoyable than seeing someone who considers himself to be a tough guy find out the hard way that he ain't?

Too bad he didn't learn that lesson long before he did the incredible damage to so many people's lives.

Now we have to feed and house this guy for the next 20 years.

"Genovese was nowhere near as tough as he appears on his MySpace page when he turned himself in with his lawyer and family on Tuesday afternoon to AID. The teen looked "pale-faced and kept throwing up," the source said".

I love the vomiting in front of the police. Way to keep it gangsta.

There goes his street cred.

I foresee something about crying in the courtroom as he gets sent to PMITA prison.

He wont get as much pussy in prison but I'm sure he'll be very popular.

This reminds me of my favorite quote from the Daily Show, when they showed footage of Eminem in court:

"Nothing takes the black guy out of a white guy faster than a court appearance." - Jon Stewart

I give it...two weeks..after he's in prison, that his "gangsta" friends come to understand that it's actually not cool to be a douchebag.

Watch what happens to this dumb guido.

Year 1 in jail- He is staying strong, the rape is horrible but he survived. his "thugs' and crue stoped visiting him after six months, he comes to the slow realization that his life was a lie. His homies dumped him as soon as he lands in jail and his true friends stop at around month eight.

Year 2 his mom visits him still but no one else, he is dead to the outide world. another man is raising his kid, his girl forgot about him around christmas time as she needs a thug not a scrub in jail, and he is still a complete prison biatch.

Year 3- he makes it halfway threw, and commits suicide. His kid never knew his name, his ex talks about him like hes a plague, and none of his friends ever mention him in passing.

"The mother thinks the whole thing is overkill," McCarrick said, after leaving the home. "She said he [Genovese] just ran a red light and got into a car accident."

Can they throw the mom in jail too?

I am endlessly entertained by his myspace page.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=8997778 Mood: Incarcerated

Everyones page should have that little fridge magnet thing on it. Random awesomeness is happening about every two seconds on that fridge.

I would post a comment over there, But I don't want my page bombarded by tard.

His car, which he identifies as a Lexus GS 300... but goes on to list his income as $250,000 or more.

is contrasted by this:

He remains in prison, unable to post $200,000 bail.

I noticed a lot of his female "homiez" seem to be unwed single mothers. go figure.

The good news: their life span does not appear to be very long. this appears to refer to his "dead homies":

R.i.P. PINTOa.k.a."CHEEP->"A.b.$.. //PEteY Vi a.k.a."MaDoNE"i.A.M.P. //ScKoOp a.k.a."kLiP->"FjB //ViC //PAt BOmBiNO a.k.a."PAtTy BOMb" //ANt a.k.a."ELaYy

I love the comments his friends leave for him.

One says "I KNEW U LOOKED FAMILIAR ON THA TUBE.... SRY THAT SHIT HAPPENED 2 U YO"

Wait....sorry that shit happened to YOU? The sad is that he killed a pedestrian instead of one of his equally useless friends.

The mentality of these type of people is that this is an awful tragedy that happened to HIM, they are incapable of considering the actual victims of the crime because they have the emotional maturity of a three year old.

Another [friend] said he needed to know how Genovese got his mugshot because he's been trying to get his hands on his own mugshot photo for a while.

Don't worry. You'll get one soon.

Quoted from actual Myspace Profile:

"Yoo mY nIgg I gottta Hold U down bY say diss shYYt ... I don't even know what any of this means.

What do these people have against the English language?

What is with the rAnDOm CApiTaLIzaTioN, faux phonetic spelling, completely defective grammar and hideous punctuation?

ITs REalLy HaRD tO TYpe LiKE THis

How the fuck do they even DO that while typing?

Do they need a second person - his gay lover perhaps - to stand behind him and tap the shift key while he types?

Okay this is probably bitching but it needs said

Myspace profile do's and donts:

Do have a profile with cool pics and graphics.

Don't post that your a drug dealer then kill someone.

Don't forget that once it's on the net it can't be taken back.

Do have a profile with cool movies and song clips.

DON'T have the damn things set to start as soon as page loads this annoys people who for whatever reason don't want to hear your crap playing (especially after the billionth time reloading the page)

Don't write things on your profile in a language that exits only in your mind. Post things written so that the rest of the internet can read without a bottle of prozac and a case of whiskey.

So... anyone from Philly know this guy?

Why the Popes words ring hollow

Pope Benedict XVI warned a crowd of 400,000 young people that a feeling of spiritual emptiness often accompanies material wealth.

He urged them to avoid the pitfalls of prosperity.

"In so many of our societies, side by side with material prosperity, a spiritual desert is spreading: an interior emptiness, an unnamed fear, a quiet sense of despair," the pontiff said.

Editor Coment: "Pope warns crowd that spiritual emptiness often accompanies material wealth".

Is it ironic for a church historically associated with dissent-fermenting opulence to preach about avoiding conspicuous consumption?

Try googling investments, or finances, or holdings, etc. of the Roman Catholic Corporation Church.

"For the eighth consecutive year, the operating statement for fiscal year 2000 for the Holy See closes with a net gain of 17.720 billion, equal to $8,516,000 US at the exchange rate at the end of the year of 2,080.89 lire per dollar. The total expenses were 404.378 billion and the total income was 422.098 billion. Compared with the previous fiscal year, the income was more substantial, having increased by 64 billion".

"As he wrapped up a visit to Australia on Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI warned a crowd of 400,000 young people that a feeling of spiritual emptiness often accompanies material wealth.

"He urged them to avoid the pitfalls of prosperity".

Wait. WHAT??

Would the Catholic church be better off with no money to spend on any of the causes it supports?

According to Jesus... yes.

It's hard to take the Catholic church seriously when the pope looks like the Emperor Palpatine character in Return of the Jedi - only, it's not because he has a good make-up artist.

We ridicule his speeches because he's the head of the world's largest organization of make-believe fantasy land.

Evangelism does nothing for the world at large. Evangelism is a fancy word for "advertising" or "marketing", and the church's attempts at it are on par with Nike's or Apple's. Face it: evangelism is a crassly materialist practice to bring more people into the fold of the church to increase the tithing revenue. Pew space costs the church almost nothing, while it brings it portions of a person's income.

I agree with Reverend Smith's comment. The Pope is no better than Al Gore and his crusade to "reduce carbon emissions". When you are declaring shit like that when you live a lavish lifestyle yourself, only the gullible will blindly obey, while everyone else will think you are full of shit. If Al Gore wants me to reduce my carbon footprint (which isn't all that big to begin with), he can start by pushing for more government grants to allow the average citizen to place a wind turbine and solar panel array in their backyards.

Fuck the Pope, fuck Al Gore, and fuck controlling organized religions.

I disbelieve in the very idea of faith. I see no evidence that faith is a valid way of knowing about the world, or any advancements in our knowledge as a result of faith. There seems to be no basis for distinguishing why one group's faith (like, say, the Catholics) is "true" and another group's, (say, the Hindus) is false.

As far as I can tell, faith is nothing more than a shield to protect religious claims from rational scrutiny. The Catholics are one of the worst for this- they make a big show of using rationalism and logic and philosophy but all of their core premises still are founded on the basis of faith, which is the least rational way of founding anything.

Look, kids, if you don't want your religious beliefs to be ridiculed, try not having ridiculous beliefs. Try not building your religious practices on the intellectually shaky grounds of faith. Building a religion on faith is like building a house on the sand - there is no solid foundation.

Faith is believing in things that are true because you have faith that they're true. It's inherently circular and inherently meaningless.

Take away faith in God and all of a sudden the bible is just a book on morals. Which may or may not be true. The bible suddenly becomes as fallible as The Leviathan.

All the large religious orders that have some sound architecture and structure in the world today, have - combined - the financial resources, manpower and the high powered moral imperitives to solve the problems of today.

However, they don't.

They just continue to amass wealth, attempt to convert new followers to help amass wealth, and worse yet, try to rewrite their own histories to make their apocryphal and hypocritical policies and supported activities justifiable in the modern age.

While you can attack secular humanists all you want, the fact that all of this wealth, manpower and morality in the hands of all religious authorities worldwide just sits idly by while up to 2/3 of the planet experiences hunger, poverty, disease and despair on a daily basis. The religious organizations receive tax free status worldwide and several trillion dollars a year (again all religions combined) in tithing, donations and other resources.

I can see why people here and around the world might find the Pope's words ring hollow, even if they are true.

The real problem is... MASSACHUSETTS Department of Transportation

Rotting holes in steel support beams, enormous rust patches, small splits in steel girders and broken bracing are evident all along the underside of the John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge, the heavily traveled Interstate 95 span that crosses the Merrimack River between Amesbury and Newburyport.

A just-released state safety report filed in the wake of last year's disastrous collapse of the similarly designed Interstate 35 bridge in Minneapolis gave the 57-year-old Whittier Bridge "poor" ratings due to deterioration.

Despite its current condition, the overall structure remains safe, and the motorists who travel across it each day have no need to worry, senior Massachusetts Highway Department officials said.

Editor Coment: This from the same state that told us those tunnels were safe too.... before dropping a thousand pound concrete ceiling tile on some poor woman's car.

"The heavily redacted version of the report ... describes numerous problems with the bridge and provides several photos of major support beams that have partly rotten through".

Oh please. There's like hundreds of beams on a typical bridge. You think every one of them is necessary? Of course not. Relax.

Of course you can trust the government, ask any Native American.

Just ask that lady who's whole car got crushed by the falling concrete ceiling... err ok.. well.. ask her surviving family members then...

Right-on..... everyone forgets about the sad shape of our infrastructure... at least until we kill a whole bunch of people all at once.

Since 9/11, we don't outsource the destruction of bridges to Saudi Afganistan, we just let the bureaucrats do it -- it's cheaper and they can lie in English.

TFA failed to mention that the bridge is just a few miles south of the entry way to Vacationland (Maine). I'm betting this bridge will be "safe" until a week or so after Labor Day. Then we can all safely panic... well, until ski season.

I am comforted by the fact that all of the money we have spent in Iraq would never have been used to repair the infrastructure anyways.

I think I'll just stay down here till they fix that bridge...

Editor Coment: huh what?? omg typical blonde lmao

I bet she cant find the USA on the map.

This is so embaressing to watch.

I applaud the host for his self restraint, because I would have burst out laughing.

...she never answered the question...

LMAO!!! of course lets add sumthing totaly unrelated like the Iraq and such as.

Isn't it just like Americans to point at "Iraq and such as" when facing a national problem?

Why is this so surprising? If the president of this country himself gets away with being such a moron, what should we expect from regular citizens.

She has to be a Bush.

It was a tough question. It's especially tough since the only way to answer it is to trash the utter abysmal educational system in this country. And as a beauty pageant contestant, that's a no-no.

Here was the correct response "BECAUSE EVERYONE IN AMERICA IS A F**KING RETARD" .

It's not that she's stupid; it's that she is insulting OUR intelligence by trying to sound like she isn't. It's fine if you're dumb and hot, just don't pretend to be what you're clearly not. It's okay, honey, you don't NEED to sound smart. We'll love you anyway! We're shallow like that.

Amy Jacobson sues Channel 2

It took a year, but Amy Jacobson has gone from swimsuit to lawsuit.

The former WMAQ-Ch. 5 reporter is seeking more than $1 million in damages from WBBM-Ch. 2 parent CBS, complaining that a tape it aired of her in bathing attire at the home of a potential news source in July 2007 subjected Jacobson to "enormous public humiliation and disgrace."

Editor Coment: So she's a dumb whore.... I'm SHOCKED.

This story was boring the first time around. It hasn't improved.

For anyone who missed this the first time around.

Story goes, Amy is covering the disapperance of Craig Stebic's wife Lisa. A few weeks later Amy is driving her kids to a public pool when Craig's sister calls her and invites her to Craig's house for a pool party, which Amy agrees to. Meanwhile, she's still covering Lisa's disapperance for her TV station. This is where it gets a little sticky. Not sure how a rival TV station got the footage, but Amy is shot wandering around Craig's house in a bikini. Rival TV station airs the footage, Amy is summarily fired from her job. She airs her sob story to anyone who would listen, and still can't get a job anywhere.

She also, and more importantly, had been quietly briefing the cops on what the suspected murderer had been telling her. THAT'S the main journalism ethics lapse that got her canned.

You know a really good way to avoid public humiliation and disgrace? Don't hang out with a murder suspect or his family when you're covering the story for a TV news station.

She showed horribly poor judgment, no matter what the circumstances.

FTA: Even Geraldo Rivera weighed in, decrying her ethics and calling her dismissal "a no-brainer" on Fox News Channel.

When Geraldo Rivera calls your ethics questionable, you have failed completely and utterly.

Jacobson's lawsuit cites an episode of NBC's "Law & Order" in which Lara Flynn Boyle played an ambitious reporter having an affair with a murder suspect.

You can do that now? Cite TV drama to set a legal precedent in our courts?

As much as we clamor for truth and ethics in journalism I sincerely hope that a jury would hurry up and dismiss the HELL out of this lawsuit.

This article seems useless without..... something. I can't think of what - but SOMEthing would make this thread less useless.

would it be cookies?

Do not get me wrong, cookies make EVERYTHING better. However in this case, there is something else... some... thing... that will make this thread not useless.

//meanwhile, let me grab a couple of cookies.

This is what happens when you let kids out in public

A 14-year-old boy was arrested yesterday after he pushed a senior citizen off a dock because he "thought it would be funny".

Police said the boy ran up behind the 71-year-old victim, who was fishing off the dock with his grandson, and pushed him off the dock and into the ocean.

Once arrested, the boy was allowed to make one phone call. Police said he chose to call a friend to "brag and laugh" about what he had done.

Editor Coment: It IS kind of funny. It's a completely dick-headed move I will not deny... but it's still kind of funny.

some old guy sitting on the dock, having some peaceful bonding time with his grandson, then out of nowhere being shoved into the water by some idiot.

Where are his parents?

Parents, you need to beat your children.

Then the parents need a beatdown for raising such a little douchebag.

Are cops in Falmouth unfamiliar with the standard "prisoner was handcuffed and shackled and accidentally fell down 14 flights of stairs" routine for this kind of behavior?

I hope this little punk get an assload of community service. Maybe spend an entire day changing seniors poopy diapers at the local convalescent home.

As I stated before, not all kids are bad. Its shits like this punk that give kids a bad name. I know plenty of good kids. And you know WHY they're good kids? because their parents aren't complete assholes.

Sure, he may grow up to be a decent member of society, but why take the chance?

I vote to have him put down.

I did dumb shit when I was a kid.. but my dumb shit never HURT anyone but myself.

/It's no wonder the earth is trying to rid itself of humanity.
