HOTEL AND THE STORY

A Hotel consists of SEVEN major departments which are

  1. Food & Beverage service Department
  2. Food & Beverage Production Department
  3. Front Office Department
  4. House Keeping Department
  5. Engineering Department
  6. Security Department
  7. Accounts Department.

These departments can be further categorized into two major categories

  1. Revenue generating
  2. Non Revenue Generating

 

The Revenue Generating Departments are:

1. Food and beverage service department

2. Front office

3. Food and Beverage Production Department

The Non revenue generating Departments are:

  1. House Keeping department
  2. Engineering Department
  3. Security Department and
  4. Accounts Department

There is one sub department in the Accounts Section, which plays a very important role in the operation of the Hotel as it provides all the revenue generating departments with the items required for there day to day operation to operate smoothly….. and this department is the stores department.

Stores Department interacts with all the departments and can also be called as the main artery of supply in the Hotel. It is the responsibility of this Department to procure the required items via the purchase department and to stock a comfortable level of each and every required item.

It is the responsibility of this department to stock and issue the items to the requisitioning departments. In case of non-availability of any item it is the job of this department to issue a requisition letter to the purchase department and also to see to it that these items are available to the departments at the time of requirement. Similarly this department takes care of the stock level of the items
