I do not propose to say this is the only or even the best explanation of the subject at hand. Picture writting has been known on earth since the dawn of cave men. They drew on cave walls and skins, They sketched their prey, They sketched their surroundings, made notes about seasonal changes in the enviorment and even the star positions. So it is therefore easy to believe that simular thing are represented by the symbols, or pictures attested to by witnesses. These items I will call images.
Images are by nature things that remind us of something, When we consider the images on UFO's they remind us of something but in fact may mean more to the occupants. If you go to any military base, any marina, ride through any neighborhood you will see items that will remind you of something, but they serve a different purpose. They recieve signals (communications) or the identify items.
I will begin with identification. Every aircraft, boat, and automobile has a registration number, It may be on a removable plate, a sticker, an etched or stamped body part or even painted on. With military and ocean going craft there are several, They identify the country of origin, home port, and a serial number. With military aircraft they also identify the unit and base of the aircraft. Now on to the second section.
Recievers come in many shapes and sizes, from telescoping aerials on portable radios to satelite dishes to the giant solar recievers made of millions of photo cells that are the main power supply of satelites.
My idea is that both purposes may be served by the images. It seems that common sense would tell us that any space craft would be bound by simular rules to the ones we use in our own space craft, and that is that every ounce of weight requires fule and extra thrust to move the weight. Therefore since both of the items listed in this article could be served by the same weight and space then that would be a very easy thing for the designer to achieve.
But lets go a little bit further and consider some more functions, Say refueling, the refueling probe would be of whatever shape the designers chose for their use, and the conditions the refueling would take place in. (Since whatever fuel they use is unknown to us we can only guess at the shape) Then lets consider the possibility of joint travel, Parking, Vessel Service and all the myriad of uses that such a device could be put to, After all even though they don't stop into the local walmart (I think) that does not mean they don't have to shop someswhere or somewhen(if the vessel is time mobile-another whole library worth of discussion) To the point some of the images may be devices to clamp or bond the vechicles together on a molecular or even sub atomic scale. If you think this is impossible then remember super glue, crazy glue and even the electromagnets that make your radio speakers work. All of these were unknown just a little over 100 years ago and to a cave man would seem like fantasy or god like powers.
