HOW I DID BIRGITTA'S FACE
THE NEXT STEP
First I made her comfortable and protected the table, her clothes and hair Using plaster bandages I reinforce the mold of her face.
Once I have the face molded then I mix up a thin batch of Plaster of Paris. I make it thin so it will coat and pick up the details easily. Then I mix up a thicker batch and once the thin batch is set then I put the thicker solution in. This gives me a chance to put in hangers in the second batch of plaster to hang or anchor the masks when they are done.
She just leans forward and her negitive mold just falls off of her face.
With her I used more of a piedough molding layer, this is more consistent and cleaner
I have tried the allegen and had a couple of bad batches of the molding compound so now I use a recipe that is very simular to pie crust to pick up the details of the face, it works just as well but without the extreme time constraints that allegen has. I can mix it up and carry it in a containter to the place I am setting up the process at it works well, but I am still developing the formula to bring out the finer details.
The final step is to remove the dough or allegen and show off the face to the person whose face you molded. After this is the cleaning process of taking off what isn't them and leaving what is them on the mold. I paint them and make statues out of them. Soon I will have a link to show you the finished products.
