Jane M. Blevins ... From Scott County (Tenn.) News, June 11, 1948 ... Funeral services were held ... June 2 for 2nd Lt. Jane M. Blevins, who lost her life in World War II ... daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I.N. Blevins, Somerset ... Only Scott County (Tenn.) girl to lose her life in World War II ... graduate of Oneida High School ... well known and liked ... 22 years of age at the time of her death in February 1944 in Ledo, India. Her body was brought back to Somerset for burial ... Surviving are her parents and one brother, Howard Kinne Blevins, who was also a soldier in World War II and was a German prisoner for approximately three years; four sisters.

July 25, 1845 � April 15, 1916 ... born in Little Rock, Ark. ... died in Louisville ... son of Benjamin John and Sarah Jameson Yeiser Borden ... one of 7 children ... prospected in the West as a young man ... 1888 - 1906 deputy clerk ... 1905 elected to the clerkship ... In the struggle between the States ... gave his support to the South ... Funeral services at the Baptist Church.

Emma Stem Borden ... Feb. 27, 1848 � Feb. 6, 1926 ... born in Little Rock, Ark. ... died in Los Angeles, Calif. ... daughter of Benjamin John and Sarah Jameson Yeiser Borden ... never married ... one of 7 children.

Sarah Jameson Yeiser Borden ... Oct. 29, 1826 � Sept. 26, 1895 ... wife of Benjamin John Borden ... daughter of Dr. Daniel and Catherine Yeiser ... one of our now few old and venerated citizens ... A lady of decided character, distinguished for intelligence, candor, dignity and refinement. Devoted to her family, she held the welfare and honor of her children and grandchildren as chief objects of her care ... mother of 7.

Helen Brooks ... From the Somerset Journal, Friday, Oct. 31, 1919 ... wife of George G. Brooks, died at her home ... after an illness of some length. Funeral ... held at the home ... 30 years of age ... daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Peffer. Many friends and relatives from a distance attended the funeral ... was loved and admired by everyone who knew her. Her loss will be keenly felt in the community.

Mary E. Brumley ... From the Holland Sentinal, Holland, Mich. ... 89, of Bardstown, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, in her home ... member of Acorn Church of God of Prophecy ... formerly of Somerset ... preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Brumley. Surviving are daughter; sister; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Buchannon ... From the Somerset Journal, Friday, Aug. 29, 1919 ... three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Buchannon, died Wednesday morning after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held at the home of the child�s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porch. ... First name was Zollie ... born in Russell County, Ky. ... may have died November 25? ... died in West Somerset ... son of William McHenry Wilson (1875-1956) and Ruth Ellen Wilson (1876-1952) ... had 9 bros and sis, Ollie Mae, Flonnie Mollie, Avery Virthel, Lonnie Woodrow, Jesse Sherman, William Arvin, Zella Beatrice, Alma Ovoline, and Ruby Irene ... his first wife was Lilly Goff, who died in 1922 and had no children ... married Macie (or Marcie?) Randell in 1926 ... died of heart attack and kidney failure ... had one son, one daughter.

Curtis C. Winfrey ... 1900 � 1944 ... buried with Lula P. Winfrey and Charles L. Winfrey, his parents? ... Not known yet how he died, but references in 1920 and 1921 Somerset Journals say, "Curtis Winfrey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Winfrey, who is now in the Navy, is home for a visit� and �Curtis Winfrey is at home from the Navy for a furlough.�

Jimmy Carl Young ... June 12, 1943 � October 10, 1970 ... Ky. Pvt. US Army - Vietnam ... Possibly died in a car wreck? ... Had a wife and son.

Charles F. Zachary ... Oct. 20, 1876 � Dec. 8, 1905 ... A Pvt. Charles F. Zachary was a member of the 1st Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, but I can't be sure this is the same person.
