A card game I made up a few months ago. Try to get all of the cards out of your hand in a solitaire-fashion. |
Checkers the board game. |
This program simulates having a conversation with a therapist. Of course, it is for entertainment only. But it's nice to se a computer try to carry on a conversation. |
Common game among programmers. Pay back your superiors by buying and selling drugs on the black market. |
A text-based adventure game written by a good friend of mine name Christof. Amusing, but not suitable for younger persons. |
A screensaver-type program I wrote using BGI (DOS) graphics. Fun to watch, not much to play. It generates lines of random colors and reflects them a random number of times across the screen. Good times. |
Try to guess the sequence of colors. Similar to the board game of the same name. Also BGI graphics. |
A programs which scrolls characters across your screen Matrix-style. Has some nifty sayings and graphics. Fund to watch, but again, not much to play. |
This program was wirtten by my father, Dennis Bowland, who also happens to be the author of The Prince of America: Achieving Wealth as a Corporate Employee. It is meant to teach the propper use of money to people of the highschool and college age. |
Who can forget the game where you try to maneuver the snake to eat the "apples" which were really just red dots? Well, in case you did forget, this is my version. It's in BGI graphics and I seem to remember it being really fast on modern computers. |
The fun game of five card stud poker in BGI graphics form. I mean, who doesn't like DOS poker, eh? |
A game my father made up in which you try to get seven of your pieces across the board to the other side while your opponent tries to do the same. Fun game, try it, and you'll be addicted. |
This program allows you to encrypt a file using a password. Not the best encryption, but certainly not the worst. Of course, you can decrypt, as well. (Wouldn't it be pointless otherwise?) |
Game where you must shoot down the alien spacecraft. Each time you hit a spacecraft, it gets smaller. Each time one dies, another appears. How many can you get before Earth is destroyed? (cue suspenseful music) |
The old favorite Tetris made for the PC in BGI graphics. Really a good game for only DOS and only 16 colors. Fast, as well. |
Tetris written in C++ and notepad-style. A friend of mine in programming class wrote it with me. Fun to mess around with, and hey, it's TETRIS! |
Ti-89 Assembly
Name |
Description |
A truly 3D maze using TiCC's FAT technology. Generates a random maze of a size you specify. The bigger the maze, the more you wander without a CLUE where you are (the walls all look exactly the same). |
Dodge the falling ice. Each piece of ice falls at a different speed, making the game challenging. Faster and better than previous versions. This is actually fun! |
The game of battleship. Faster than the BASIC version and with better graphics. You don't get to choose where you ships go, but WHO CARES? The calculator is guessing, it's not as though it would make a difference! |
Try to catch the bombs thrown from a dude at the top of the screen. Based on a Ti-86 game by Bruce Herr 2 of the same name. |
Duck Hunt (outdated) |
One of my favorite games. Shoot the ducks. There are many different options and the background is similar to that of the original Nintendo version. The outdated version is only for AMS 1.00, but is my original (and written in 68k), so I still love it. Don't use it on newer calculators, use the top version. |
The game of Hangman. Guess the word before you are hung. There is a huge word list. |
This game randomly generates a maze, which you navigate through. You must collect all the coins before exiting. This game is fast, has good (enough) graphics, and the mazes can get really large. Worth your time. |
A puzzle game where you race against the clock trying to match a piece you are given with a pieces somewhere on a board. Of course, the pieces look similar. This game is based off a game my programming teacher showed me. Unfortunately, it wasn't named MULE as I thought it was, but, oh well. This one is. |
Repeat a pattern back to the calculator. See how far you can get without screwing up. Based on the popular game. |
Try to kill the opposing snakes by making them run into your tail-trail. Each levels adds another snake. |
Ti-89 BASIC Games
Name |
Description |
Navigate a randomly generated maze. I attempted 3D graphics as best I could with BASIC. |
Avalanche (outdated) |
Dodge the falling ice. This requires AMS version 1.00, however. It will not work on newer calculators. |
The card game that James Bond always plays. Try to get the highest "ones-digit". Fun game, give it a try. |
Who doesn't know the game of Blackjack? Try to attain 21 without going over. |
The game of baseball on the calculator. The graphics aren't half-bad as it has little dudes that run around the field. You get to hit the ball and other such fun. |
The game of battleship on the calculator. Try to sink your opponent's ships before he sinks yours. The calculator AI isn't half-bad, either. |
A math game where you are given the sum of the rows and columns, and you must figure the other numbers. Can get rather difficult. |
You take away dots, as does your opponent. The one who takes the last dot, loses. Strategy? You bet so. |
A program where you can converse with your calculator. You type in a sentence, and it replies. |
A math game where you are given the result, and must arrange the given number and symbols to achieve the result. |
Try to guess the word before you are hung. There is a huge list of words and the ability to add your own. |
The popular-mostly-in-bars game of Keno. |
Try to hit the square on the chess board using only the knight. A strategy game. |
Math Invaders (outdated) |
Math problems fall from the top of the screen and you shoot the answer at them to make them disappear. When they reach you, you lose. Unfortunately, this game requires AMS version 1.00, so it will not work on newer calculators. |
The game of Nibbles in BASIC. Fun, new, and interesting levels. Speed isn't the worst. |
Place pieces on a board. Similar pieces will react and give you points, but become unusable. The more pieces next to each other when they react, the better the score. Based on a sub-game of a game I used to have. |
A football game. Call the plays and try to win. Not very graphical, but who said you need graphics to have fun, anyway? |
Play poker machine-style or against the calculator. Option of having wilds, as well. |
Scrambles a picture and you try to put it back in order. Come with pictures and the option to use your own (almost any "pic" file on the calc). |
Try to get seven of your pieces to the other side of the board before your opponent does. Based on a game my father wrote. |
A side-scrolling racing game. Navigate your snake through the constantly-narrowing path. |
Match similar pieces to eliminate them all. There are several levels of pieces and only certain pieces can be moved, making the game more difficult. |
This game is similar to the popular game "Mastermind," except that it have a time limit. Guess the pattern before you blow up. |
Ti-89 BASIC Misc.
Name |
Description |
A calendar program which will display any month in history. You can also store messages on days as reminders. |
You enter an amount, and the calculator will tell you the most efficient way to dispense it (i.e. how many nickels, dimes, pennies, etc.) |
Program that will keep your checkbook in order. It works and will keep your history, but I wouldn't base my entire savings on it... |
Keep a password-protected diary. Diary entries are also encrypted. fun for the whole family, I'm sure. |
ExecLib (outdated) |
A "library" for BASIC programmers. Include this file with your program, and you can use it to access special features (using assembly). This has NOT been tested with an AMS higher than 1.00, and I do NOT recommend using it on newer calculators. |
Allows a BASIC programmer to include psuedo-greyscale in a program. Flips pictures as rapidly as a BASIC program can. |
Orifice (outdated) |
A program that lets you browse the contents of your calculator. It lets you hide/unhide programs, includes password protection for shutdown (you cannot just press [ON]), and other nifty features. Unfortunately, these features only work with AMS 1.00, so do NOT use this on newer calculators. |
A nifty program for programmers. It takes any picture, of dimensions that you specify, and enlarges/shrinks it to dimensions you specify. |
Keep your records of names, phone numbers, e-mail, etc. in this rolodex program. |
Another "library" for BASIC programmers. Scrolls text from the bottom of the screen, up (Star Wars-style). |
