Tea Leaf Reading
Lesson Two
The Reading

Each
tasseomancer (tea leaf reader) does the reading ritual differently, but typically, the procedure is as follows: The reader will ask the person to stir the dried tea, a tradition similar to shuffling a deck of Tarot cards, and then spoon a measure of tea into a heated pot (two teaspoons).

Boiling water is added, and the person concentrates on the future in general or on a specific question he or she would like answered while stirring the brew. If a pot is being used, the
querent (the person wanting the reading) swirls the tea after it steeps and then pours it into the cup.

The Tasseomancy may add more leaves if not enough entered the cup. This contact with the cup is crucial to the personalization and accuracy of the reading. Tasseomancy, like Tarot and other inductive systems of divination, may seem to depend on indications of chance (like the scattered leaves, the cut of the cards, to pulling out of the rune stones), but really has its basis in the disbelief of chance contact with the cup is assured to influence the patterns of the leaves.

The querent then sips the tea, if the querent absolutely loathes tea, it may be poured off rather than drinking it, but I dont recommend it, and if they chose to pour out, the subject must hold the cup in their hand for a significant period before the reading can commence. The querent than swirls the tea and remaining liquid around the inside of the cup three times, to distribute the leaves, and then in the same motion, turns the cup face down onto a saucer. After giving the liquids a moment to drain, the querent must turn the cup right side up. The tasseomancer will consider the leaves remaining in the cup, but also the pattern of the leaves on the saucer, as part of the complete reading.
So, lets look at this in steps:

1. The querent puts two teaspoons of tea into a pot.

2. Boiling water is added to the pot.

3. While stirring the brew, the querent thinks of the question he or she wishes the answer to.

4. After the tea steeps, the querent then pours tea into a cup.

5. If not enough leaves enter the cup; the Tasseomancy may add more to the cup.

6. The querent must drink the tea, if they dont like tea, they can pour it out, but hold the cup for a while first it is recommended that the querent drink the tea. The whole time thinking about their question.

7. With a small potion of tea left, the querent must swirl the remaining liquid around in the cup three times.

8. During the last swirl, the querent turns the cup up side down onto a saucer, letting it sit for a few seconds so it drains.

9. Then the querent turns the cup right side up, but not placing it on the saucer.

10.  The Tasseomancy will read both the cup and saucer to give a complete reading.
