Now, let us first understand a little history, in very ancient history Divination using a reflective or translucent object, called �Scrying�, was developed almost among every culture! The Babylonians, Ancient Egyptians, Hindus, Greeks, Mayans, Incas, Northern American Indians, Australian Aborigines all used scrying and many developed the use of a crystal ball, known as Crystallomancy. In Europe, the crystal ball has been known from 1500 years ago and many renowned mystics have used this method of Divination.
Now with all forms of divination, there is no accepted explanation. One popular theory is that every person has latent abilities, which are unknowingly suppressed by the routines and rules of our daily life. The degree to which these powers are buried away varies between different people; those who have ti near the surface are regarded as �seers� or �mystics�. However we all have the ability, it can just come more quickly and easily to some.
We�ve seen this in HP, although only Harry actually saw anything in the crystal ball, that we know of, however, even Hermione has the ability, but she chooses not to develop it! |
