Advice on Supplimenting and breastfeeding
I have had such a nightmare with occasional supplementing because it constipates my son, so if you know that you will regularly supplement, then make sure that you
keep the supplement in their diet regularly. If you cannot pump enough for your baby, then you can do half breast milk and half formula to stretch out the bottles and give them the best benefit possible. I've even heard that vanilla rice milk
is a great supplement if you are in a real pinch...but not on a regular basis. (jem0622) I had to start adding a little formula to my pumped milk to hold my little guy fairly early on - about 2 months. We did it for a couple
weeks and then started mixing rice cereal in his bottle per his doctor's advice. Within a week he stretched out his sleeping to 8 hours a night and at 4 months he is at a solid 10 hours. (startoestudio)
