Pets and the baby....
My cats got very jealous and peed in the crib...even though we put the crib up early so they would adjust. We brought the cap home too. We had to lock them out of the nursery
altogether. Pay attention to your pets as much as you did before...don't leave them out. If you can put a screen door on your nursery, then this is a great tool because the main door can stay open and the pets stay out. Pet hair is everywhere!
(jem0622) have someone bring home a receiving blanket & let the pet get used to the scent of the baby. (fairy9272) Keep an eye on the pets, but try not to seperate them because the pets may become jealous and once the baby and pets are
put together later on, there could be trouble. Introduce your new arrival to your pets as if they were humans themselves. (mj68) My daschund always has to check and make sure we brinig the right baby home from the day care. He
likes to share his toys with her as well. (toto8525) Don't neglect your pets. Spend the same amount of time with your pets that you always did to prevent them from getting jealous of the baby and let them see the baby so they grow to love it
as much as you do. (heidi_hibbit) Despite my worries, the cats have been fine with the baby. They don't try to get on his furniture or in his bed. We tried to keep them out of the room with the baby but that was a big waste of
time. The key is trying to spend as much time as you can with them as well. (startoestudio) I read somewhere to bring home a blanket that has been with the baby before you actually come home. We did this and the dogs smelledit.
One of them slept on it. That way they recognize her smell when you bring her home. Also pay attention to them like you did before. They are a part of your family too (petreece) We've had no problems and we have two dogs (one
large) and 3 cats. We kept the pets separate right after the baby came home and then introduced them keeping a close eye on them. The dogs give the baby little kisses and the cats couldn't care less. (bailey3)
