| Ohim Sinium: When the roots of this plant are burnt, they let out a pale yellow smoke. This smoke is useful in the garden because Gnomes are attracted to it's sweet smell. When a person wants to catch a gnome, they burn the roots and the gnome will come then they get rid of it. Ohim Sinium is mainly found in southern Australia, but is now shipped all over the world. It was discovered by Amelia Ricklenick in 1988. Polion Needle Tree: This tree is ranked " Extremely Dangerous " by the Ministry of the Magic. The reason for this is because the plant shoots out its poisonous needles at its intruders in a radius of 23 metres. It was Arnagus Roweedle who found the tree during an exploration trip in 1764. Unfortunately he bled to death from his needle puncture wounds. But he managed to write down notes of his discovery before he died. They were later picked up and brought to the M.O.M.'s attention and the plant was banned from trade and harvesting. In the past ten years, there have been 113 cases of Polion Needle Tree incidents. Only 7 were fatal. |

| Abyssinian Shrivelfig: Ingredient which needs to be peeled before adding to a potion. Alihotsy: If eaten, these leaves cause hysteria. Bubotubors: Bubotubors are disgusting looking plants which let out a yellowish pus that smells like petrol. Bubotubor is very popular because of it's excellent acne healing capabilities. Devil's Snare: This is a magical plant which loves darkness and dampness. It is composed of many soft, springy tendrils and vines. If a person approaches too close to Devil's Snare, its long creepers and tendrils come out and ensnare the intruder by binding them on the arms and legs. Eventually, they get so tight that the person suffocates. The harder a person resists the Snare, the quicker the vines bind harder and faster. But if the person remains calm, the Snare should eventually let go. But sometimes, it will not let go.. The best defence against Devil's Snare is a method of shooting flames. A very good spell commonly used on Devil's Snare is Bluebell Flames. This spell will automatically get rid of Devil's Snare. Gillyweed: Native to the Mediterranean, this water plant, when eaten, gives a person gills to breathe underwater and gives them webbed hands and feet for swimming. Many would say it looks like slimy, grayish-green rat tails. Usually, the Gillyweeds effects will last for approximately one hour. Mandrake ( also Mandragora ): The Mandrake root is a very powerful restorative. It forms an essential part of most antidotes, including the one for Petrification. The Mandrake Restorative Draft returns people who are transfigured or cursed to their original state. Mandrake seedlings are tufty little plants, purplish green in colour and the lower portion of the plant has the appearance of a human baby. These creatures grow and develop over the course of several months until they mature and can be harvested and used for potions. The maturity line resembles that of the human one. Baby, child, teenager, adult, senior. The best time for Mandrakes to be harvested is between teenager and adult. The cry of the Mandrake is fatal to humans, so special precautions should be taken during their growing. Even a baby Mandrake's cry can be powerful enough to knock out a human for a short period of time. Nithendrals: These plants have the unique quality of creating a natural form of cement. When their leaves are powdered and mixed with water, the plants will create a substance 100 times stronger than cement. Many castles, including Hogwarts, have used these plants to create their famed fortresses. Gringotts as well has used this plant to create special barriers for their vaults. Nithendrals were discovered in the year 535 B.C. by the famed Horticulturist Gerald the Green Thumb. This plant origins in Saskatchewan, Canada but has now grown to every extreme of the planet. |
