RESOURCES AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT THROUGH RE-CYCLING

Generally, in the design and building of projects I have tried to use re-cycled material wherever possible.

On this site I plan to include drawings as well as pics, with explanations listing the materials used and where and why they were used and re-claimed.

I also believe that in giving the reasons for my choice of materials and design is important to avoid confusion. Choices are often the outcome of availability of materials and resources and not necessarily an engineering choice.

This allows others who might like to build the  projects can also choose materials and resources they may have and would be suitable.  It also allows for the changes to improve or modify in accordance with those materials and resources that you may have available.

The resources of this planet are not unlimited despite what many may think.

I believe we should use and re-use our resources through re-cycling, as much as we can.

Unfortunately everyone does not agree with this view.  I recently saw an article in a local newspaper where someone complained that on the day the local council had provided for a hard material collection, this person claimed they were disgusted that people should steal the "rubbish" left for the council to collect.

I am afraid I do not believe in this view, believing in the philosophy that what is one persons "rubbish" is another's value.

As far as stealing; wellll!!!!! it had been put out to go into the rubbish and landfill, therefore I believe it was not stealing.

It seems we have those in the community who don't want the "rubbish" but begrudge those who could put it to good use.   A rather selfish view and not one that looks at protecting the environment or resources of the planet.

Although I believe that legally it would be construed so, but if it is to go to fill up places that council has available, then it would be better to allow someone who can use it to do so.

We have a shortage of suitable places for landfill and councils are paying higher and higher prices for the remaining sites left.

Irresponsible companies, ruled by economic rationalism, believe it is less costly  to continually make articles from new materials rather than re-cycle.

Thank goodness there are more and more companies realising that the resources of this planet are not unlimited and are initiating some forms of re-cycling.

Much of the resources used in these projects came from re-cycled materials; re-cycled fittings were made or adapted from whatever I was able to collect/salvage. Prof is a great recycler of materials ("rubbish") not wanted by others.

As you can see  from looking at the projects made from this "rubbish", the rubbish has become a valuable commodity for someone:)
