ANITA THROUGH THE YEARS TO APPROXIMATELY 1980
This photo page shows Anita through the years to approximately
1980, give or take a year or two each way.
Some photos were taken before she left Holland, before I met
her. The others were taken during our marriage and you can see them through the
link below.
Some photos are now not of good quality as they could have been. They
were packed away in a suit case and moved with us as I was transferred to
different appointments during my period with the Public Service.
I believe this is a photo of a very young Anita 1952 in Holland
before her family came to Australia
Anita with a favoured cat.
Anita loved cats and would readily adopt any stray that came her way.
She fought to protect and educate people from their indifference and
sometimes ignorant cruelty to them. She wanted people to accept their
responsibility for animals of all kinds, when or if they had them in their care
It would be unusual to see Anita without a cat in her arms, on her
shoulder, around her feet or on her lap:)
Prof often, reluctantly, had to don the "bad guy"
image by saying "enough". We could not have any
more. At one time we had eleven cats, each and every one loved.
Her parents had warned me of her love of cats, so when we first
married we discussed pets it was agreed that she would only have three
cats. However, Anita was never to be underestimated, J
Anita was ever resourceful and managed to get around any condition based
on some technicality. J
She would say to me that "Ok. She agreed to her having only
three cats but.......J she
later argued that each child should be entitled to have a personal cat to look
after.
"It would be good for them", she would say
"They would learn to care for animals and have responsibility.
So, let's calculate the figures.
Three for Anita, one each for each of the five children, then
add one or two more for those children who were staying with us while their
families sorted out their personal or particular problems, and finally add
kittens that were "dumped" on us and were awaiting new homes. Total 3
plus 5 equals 8+.
Other cats waiting on homes or pets of children staying with us could mean any
number. As I have just mentioned at one time there were eleven.
Let us face it, what hope did Prof. have against her ??
Illogical, not to our Anita. To her it was quite logical. I called it her
"illogical logic" J...:).
Perhaps it was not so illogical. After all, Anita was
able to convince Prof of her logic. J

ardent photographer who took hundreds of photos of his family when they were in
Holland. He also processed them himself. Most of them were in black and white.
